my tv had gone nuts
i turned it on friday and its purple and green tinge to the whole thing.
i tried turning it off and stuff but it does not change. i have put nothing magnetic close to it or anything like that.
i tried beating it back to normal but this also failed
any other ideas?
or is it time for a new telly?
get a deguassing wand.
we have one at work, ill grab it tommrow and give it a go.
i have no idea how to atcually use it but i guess its a good time to learn

A few things I would try
1) adjusting th colours etc on the TV
2) use magnetic wand, you start close to the affected area and twirl as you pull it away from the TV so it kind of draws the affected bits out of the tube
IF they fail, I would be putting it down to a failed color gun inside the TV or very similiar related problem.

Or if you do, do so with one hand behind you back :P
Really, it will make you totally safe. Just wear gumboots
Caps will still let of "super happy fun" sparks if you put your screwdriver in the wrong spot even if you wear gumboots and stick one hand behind your back. While you are not likely to die following this advice you can still end up with some nasty burns nerve disorders in fingers/hands. CRTs are on my list of electronics I will not take the lid off.
