what brand is it paladin? i heard that nvidia has told all its manufacturing partners that they arent allowed to sell factory overclocked versions of these cards is this true?
mine's an MSI. not sure about the overlocking thing, i'm not into it at all, but i have read a couple of unconfirmed/uncited reports saying this to be true.
i've had to reboot to my in-dire-need-of-reinstall windows media center install to get the drivers installed tho, there just aren't any vista drivers yet, and not likely to be until at least the official card launch :(
Brand rarely matters this day and age when it comes to a graphic card. Most are just rebadged reference models. Some might go as far to put some better memory on the card or a better cooler. Most warranties are the same, some have a lifetime but more often then not you'll get the same product just the candy is a little different.

i still stick with brands i know and trust - especially since all the rebadged reference model cards were recalled ;) - and i like my double lifetime warranty
yeah i wouldnt go for rebadged crap with computer as we are in darwin and if there going to rebage it im sure there going to take the good cooler off and put a shit cooler on. and cooling is a must.
Haha you guys are silly, have any of you taken a look at any of the 8800 cards around, they are all pretty much identical no matter the brand. But meh up to yous :p

Take it as you will, actually more to the point though. Just about everyone has a reference card to a point, Sparkle and evga gone the different cooler route on the card that's all.
So the recalled cards had a resistor problem, hardly anyones fault but Nvidia ;)

I'd believe that. I have 2 7800GTX 512MB cards in my rig and get 50-60fps on BF2142 at high quality. One of the guys in TOG have a single 8800GTX and gets 100FPS and even then it seems it is being limited to 100FPS by the game.

i have never understood the whole fps thing, most ppl have lcd which has a max refresh rate of 75MHz, and other CRT owners have max 100MHZ (yes i know it can go 150 but not on decent resolution)
so any fps over 75 is wasted because the lcd monitor cant process that many fps
on my 7900gtx i enabled full AA and Antiscropic just to bring the fps down to a manageable level
