Should I switch?

Herro GU'ers!

I will be moving into a new house on the 3rd of next month. I currently am on Bigpond (out of plan luckily), and since I'm moving into a new residence I thought that this would be the perfect time to change ISP's!

But the problem is who should I look at signing up with? I'm not going to mind being put on a plan, I'm mostly concentrating on the setup fee. We'll be keeping the same number we have now but as I have read from the other thread, I will still have to get the line switched over.

I like the fact that Telstra send you a bill in the mail, I find that super convenient.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

internode has many billing options, I believe they can send you an invoice too.

Are you a gamer? Or are you a downloader?
If your looking to play games you want to have a good quality service with consistently low pings and that you will only get with internode and maybe iinet.

If your not looking at playing games that greatly benefit from low pings then there is cheaper options available like dodo and so on.

consistently low pings? thats not what i'd call internode after reading the number of posts on gu about internode ping jumping up - it seems to happen on a regular basis

Leave Telstra, repent for past transgressions of signing up to them, and the world will be a better place.

Post 7

/me waves the Internode flag :)

The ping posts r not unique to Internode that's a problem with the Telstra network that we all live off ! Noders, Iinet, Telscum, etc !

No biais there ;)

Ping chaos = People allowing politicians to run and flog off the nations network :P

BS. :o

can you change the plan every month like telstra depending on your forecasted use?

how does Dodo go with bit torrents etc?

Post 13

plan change - dunno i have never needed to
torrents run fine - 150-160KBs max speed

Post 14

DODO
I think better for download compared to iinet and anyother out there
and good for games keeps me happy oh and im not sure if you guys know
dodo has unlimited woohoo lol

Post 15

The Cave has DoDo's abounding
All runs well
So far no problems and swift setup, but i have heard others with problems getting it hooked up.

Post 16

The $99 plan which mepm is on sounds enticing.

I may hook up for a 24 month plan. The only thing is if I can change plans accordingly while on that contract.

Post 17

you can only go up not down in plans - mepm is downloading 200g a months now isnt that worth getting lol..
i dl about 90g a month.
and i went with paying "19 up front with that same $99 a month plan so i can change providers if ever someone could beat dodo.

Post 18

Well, since I'm going to be apart of a Battlefield 2142 clan that is on the GameArena servers, I guess I'm better off staying with them. the fact that you can move up and down the plans every month is what sold me.

I guess it's onto another 24 month plan for me.

Post 19

why would you want to change your plan every month?
more to the point why would you want a crappy ISP that costs
"29.95-"39.95 a month for a lousy 20gb?

lol these plans are a joke
http://my.bigpond.com/internetplans/broadband/adsl/plans/

roflmao @ $79.95 for a 500mb account - cmon i could blow 500mb just surfing the net

dident you read any of that?
dodo are good for downloads alright for Games...

Post 21

All of my gaming will be done over Game Arena, unless I can get a bitTorrent client working.

How are the pings over Dodo?
