Post 5

ebgames.com shows the 31st.

Post 6

Post 7

Someone should go to EB and tell me I cant im at work :(

Post 8

7th of November is when I heard that it was being released (from the NWN2 boards)

They delayed it for a couple of weeks. Good news is that it HAS gone gold, and it is expected to be on time.

I can't wait to see how much of an upgrade my computer is going to need to play it :p

Post 9

i have a hard time believing that something is going to be released here BEFORE in the states. so if the US release is the 31st, i'd expect australia to be on or after that date.

Post 10

7th is what i was quoted by eb games slave in store last thursday.

Post 11

had the same thing with dark messiah went in to get it this morning to find it has been delayed a week.

Post 12

My store said 9th :(

We got the Stargate SG1 Season 9 DVD boxset release here before america =) .. and not by just a couple of days either, months..

Post 14

DOA was out in theatres before America :)

But delayed.. I can believe that.

Post 15

noooo. raid in wow...or NWN 2...

so many hard decisions.

Post 16

well, some more bad news - it looks like NWN2 has been delayed another week due to manufacturing problems.

New release date for Aus and NZ is 16th November...

dammit...

Post 17

damn...oh well I have sims2 pets :D

Post 18

!@$!$%!

Post 19

heh, this is just funny. Least someone found the funny side...

Post 20

oh, forgot to add - there is a patch out for it already that improved the druid a fair bit, as well as some things they didn't get a chance to do before it went gold.

so, when we FINALLY get copies of NWN2, don't forget to patch it ;)

Post 21

delayed again
man another week of pointless wow :(

Post 22

Post 30

Pala. review. now.

Post 31

runs like a piece of ass so far. maybe 1920x1200 at max detail is a bit ambitious with my almost two year old video card.

Post 32

give me your 2 year old videocard and i'll let you know if that's the problem ;P

Post 33

far less frustrating with a few detail settings turned down, woo.

Post 34

remind us what that video card is.

its not the x800 still is it?

Post 35

Quote from Mungus;284937:

my offer still stands.. you can even have my 6800GT to see if that runs any better =)

Post 39

Post 42

Quote from SperO;284992:

I'd say it is.

Post 44

soo...any inital reports to how good this game really is?

Post 45

so far it plays fairly similar to nwn 1, so in other words, good fun. not too far into it yet, only really just left the tutorial type chapter

Post 46

so is this game good or is it as crap as the review linked of http://www.penny-arcade.com would suggest? I don't want to fork out the $$ if it is CRAPOLA... Opinions?

Post 47

i'd wait to see if there's any good online content before buying it to be honest. they're right about the sluggish performance tho, unless you have a pretty high end machine it's not going to run too smoothly

Post 48

Quote from paladin;285208:

Oh well that's me out then... with my crappy MITAC (piece of shit) laptop... ;) Guess I'll just have to stick with BF2142

Post 49

rofl mitac. poor bloke. the game IS fun, don't get me wrong, but as with nwn 1, i suspect the real value is going to be in the community created content.

Post 50

What's your system setup? I have a 6800GT card and don't really want to replace it just for this one game.

Post 51

i was running it on an x850xt - i'm not 100% sure if the chug was attributed to the card, or to the fact i was playing it under vista. that said, it only chugged at 1920x1200 max detail, medium settings it ran fine.

i've since upgraded to an 8800gtx, and as you'd expect that card runs the game flawlessly, however as there are no vista drivers for the card, i'm playing it in xp media centre, so can't be 100% certain that my old card wasn't up to scratch

Post 52

it runs OK on a lower end system - it just means you have to turn some details down. I have a athlon 2800+, and a radeon 9800 xt and it runs at about 20 fps

other than a few niggly camera issues, its a good game. Well worth the money - and by the time its released in Australia, it should be up to patch 1.02. which will (hopefully) fix up the dual weapon hotkey...

Post 53

how far through the campaign are you?

Post 54

Quote from paladin;285269:
how far through the campaign are you?

I haven't even gotten past act 1 (i'm in Neverwinter City, trying to get into Blacklake)

That sorcerer that joins you is a bloody maniac!
Fireballs left, right and centre!

Post 55

hah. i'm not even that far, i made it to the druid enclave, then started again with another character after re-installing it under xp instead of vista.

Post 56

so were you giving me your old card so i can play the game or what pala? ;P

Post 57

were you giving me $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$? :P

Post 58

no... but I'm sure I have a priv message from you here saying that's okay.. look.. here it is..

Quote:
paladin: you may have my current video card oh Glorious one, may your power incarnate never waiver.

see?! it's in writing! It must be true! =)

Post 59

lies. my name is never capitalised.

Post 60

what? captialised? who said capitalised?

Post 61

Besides it's on the internets, 100% certified truth.

Post 62

i SERIOUSLY hate the camera and movement setup. and you can't rebind mouse keys...****ing. maybe i missed something with the camera movement but i cant use it for shit.

Post 63

also - change the tooltip delay to 0 - that helps when quick casting or issuing commands etc.

the camera takes a little while to get used to - NWN1 camera wasn't that crash hot either when it first came out.

the driving camera needs some work though (only useful if you are a tank) the left and right turn need to be toned down a tad.

and then just to top it all of, my XP craps itself, so I have to re-install....

Not AGP by any chance?

Post 65

its officially out in australia
eb has heaps of copys they said to my coworker sardok over the phone

Post 66

Is there persisant-world multiplayer?

Post 67

i dont know but im not buying the game till node make some servers

Post 68

Not out till the 19th :P

Post 69

I'm not going to bother unless there's persistant-world multiplayer, I've never been a big RPG fan, even less so single-player ones.

Post 70

There is persistant multi player servers for nwn 1, So I assume in a few months, we will be getting persistant world servers for nwn 2.

Post 71

That's what I'm hoping, because the Nordock module Internode have run for NWN1 is awesome.

Post 72

Well it would help if the damn game would INSTALL!!!!!!!

Disc into drive, no auto run, go click on the drive icon in Explorer, explorer crashes.

and its the 2nd copy to do this

Grumble

Post 73

Does anyone else get an error message as soon as it boots up?
Game still runs fine, I vaguely remember getting an error message in NWN1 as well, but it didn't seem to affect anything.

Post 74

downgrade your drivers

The game is protected by SecureROM - so anything that allows you to have any virtual drives need to be exited(Alcohol 120%, Daemon tools, etc)

There are some other error messages that they are trying to address - but most of the errors seem to come from SecureROM clashing with something...

Hopefully they will do the same as NWN1 and disable SecureROM so that people no longer have any issues. Mind you there ARE ways around it finding virtual drives.....

Post 76

What's the maximum amount of companions you can have in the main campaign? Just wondering if I should tell wannabe-companions to piss off in the hope of someone better coming along.

Post 77

i just bought the game, is ther any online servers operating?

Post 78

maximum of 3 companions travelling with you - and throughout the first act you may have to swap and change...

There is a couple, but I don't know where they are at all.

Post 79

install pr0tstop to get around the no virtual drive bullshit. or just use the no-dvd crack

Post 80

by the way this game rocks and I am having no problems with it these are my specs:
Kingston 1G(2x 512mb)DDR400
Gigabyte K8NF9
AMD San Diego 3700+
XFX GeForce 7900GT 256MB DDR3 PCI-E (470MHz)

I've just left it on whatever the default settings are and the cinematics are smooth, gameplay are smooth loading times are minimal.

There is a few issues with the camera and the only comfortable way to play is birdseye in my opinion. Which I prefer anyway like the original.

But yea... I love this game :D I was worried because of the mixed reviews but I think the biggest problems are the camera and control and I think the people who give it the worst reviews are dedicated wow players who are used to the way it controls. I can understand how someone playing wow for so long would get a little frustrated.

Post 81

Quote from SperO;286460:

Yeah, that's the only issue I have with it too. Other than that it's pretty much everything I'd want for a NWN game.
Still, it's not quite good enough to draw me away from Guitar Hero 2 for any extended length of time. :p

Post 82

I thought people might be interested in knowing this.. keep a close eye on what you say because it will depend on who sticks around at the end of the game.

[hide="a few spoilers"]
You really have to work on gaining influence. So say you want to keep the dwarf till the end of the game try to fight everything.

Or neeshka just wants to steal everything and not fight so its hard to keep her in if your keeping the dwarf happy.

Seriously... there doesnt seem to be a way to check and they will abandon you in the last fight if you fail the influence throw so if your a chaotic theif who likes to kill and murder and lie well the fricken druid isnt going to want to fight with you... you need to pick characters that support your characters personality.[/hide]

Post 83

[hide="large spoiler on party influence"]
It doesn't matter how MUCH you have with Sand or Qara; what matter is who has higher influence. If you have higher influence with Sand, his check passes, and then Qara's check fails. If you have higher influence with Qara, Sand's check fails, and Qara's succeeds.

Also, Nesshka doesn't crave the blood of her enemies-she wants money, period. If you ask for a reward when she's around, chances are she will agree with it. However, unlike Khelgar (in the earl part of the game) she neither picks fights nor is particularly fond of the law. She does want she for money, either good, bad, lawful, or chaotic. As long as money is involved, she's on board.

Oh yeah, Ammon's influence check can fail, but he will stay with you. It fails because he doesn't like you, but he remains with you for his own reasons.

Here's a list of alignments:

Khelgar: Neutral Good/Lawful Good
Neeshka: Neutral
Elanee: Neutral Good
Qara: Chaotic Neutral
Grobnar: Chaotic Good
Casavir: Lawful Good
Shandra Jerro: Neutral Good
Sand: Lawful Neutral
Bishop: Chaotic Evil
Zhaejive: Neutral Good
Construct: Neutral
Ammon Jerro: Neutral Evil

Here's who can betray you:

Neeshka: Neutral
Qara: Chaotic Neutral
Sand: Lawful Neutral
Bishop: Chaotic Evil
Construct: Neutral

With the exception of Construct, most of the characters that can betray tend to be non-Good. Neeshka's betrayal (or not) greatly depends on your influence on her. Qara/Sand depends on the difference between their influence. Bishop will betray you no matter what, but you can coax him into leaving the battle. On the other hand, construct's "Betrayal" depends on your influence with Grobnoar.

The Only "evil" character to not betray you is Ammon Jerro. Hoever, it is because he is against the King of Shadows, and it goes against everything he fights for. The resto do not betray you (against Black Garius, anyway) are usually too good to do it. Even if they don't like you, or even dislike you, they will not betray themselves.

However, i heard Chaotic Evil characters will have their friends betray them if the King of Shadows tempts you.

Post 84

Ok im on ive played and now i crave role play!!

Are there any persistant Australian based servers of note that i should call home?

Post 85

Neverwinter Nights 2 kicks arse, if you can fight and subdue the interface long enough to actually PLAY it.

(I preordered it, but it arrived the day before I flew back to the NT- so guess what the last thing I packed was...)

Post 86

There was some talk of a good rp server (damned if i can remember now, Knight you still go that link?) but hard to try and find one where the lag isnt mighty and ruining the game for you.

Post 87

Best interface (if you are having issues with the original) is this one:

At the Vault

xUI it's called. using it now - good for res 1024x768 or 1280x1024

now its a wait for the 1.03 patch - it apparently improves the speed of the game by about 30% in some cases....

Post 88

yeah was reading the node forums about the 1.03beta patch, everyone loves it
