Im suprised there's no threads about this already.
For those that aren't aware, OJ has published a book that is being marketed and labelled as his written confession.
What are your thoughts on this matter?
I personally don't understand how the US Law system found him accountable but not responsible for the murders =/
there is also a tv show with the same title coming out based on the book

Its called make it a racial issue and no judge in there right mind is gunna convict, it would be a Rodney King LA riot all over again and then some

criminal law you need unanimous guilty vote
civil you just need majority so there you go...

There system is:
If you have a verdict whether its guilty or not,
you can't be tried for the same crime!

Yeh, Double Jeopardy.
But like...I dunno how a Law system can say 'We find you accountable for the double murder..but you aren't the criminall. Here, pay 35k out to the families'.

I dont understand how CRIMINALLY he's innocent yet CIVILLY he's guilty...... maybe they need judge judy on the case lol, with DR Phil as the defense and Jerry Springer as the prosecuter....... now then i'd want OJ for breakfast every morning lol.......... i'd even buy a bronco lol

Criminal and civil cases have different standards of proof, different rules of evidence and different ways of reaching judgement. In a criminal trial, you are being prosecuted by the state, and the state has the authority to deprive you of your freedom or even (in California at least) your life. Therefore it is considered important to weigh things in favour of the defendant, to prevent the innocent from punishment, and to prevent the state from becoming too powerful.
In a criminal trial, the level of proof must be "beyond reasonable doubt". The jury must be unanimously of the view that it is not reasonably possible that the accused is innocent. Not "beyond all doubt", just reasonable doubt. It's still a high standard.
In a civil trial, the standard is "on the balance of probabilities". More to the point, in most civil trials there is no jury, only a judge who decides both facts and law. Because in civil litigation nobody can be imprisoned or killed, the rules are loosened a bit because there's no need to protect a citizen from the disproportionate power of the state.
Together, the verdicts of the two trials should be read like this: It is more likely than not that OJ killed his wife, but it is not beyond reasonable doubt. And that's as good as you're going to get.

The book's still scheduled for release, they just canned his TV Special the night before launch.
no fox own the book company aswell - book has been cancelled and all remaining copies will be destroyed
Ahh ok. That Link just didn't say the book was cancelled, only the TV special.
good and good. really dislike the idea of OJ profiting from books/interviews etc when he hasnt paid out the money he was ordered to pay in the Civil suit against him.
