Only problem is that a car as an investment is the only one that is guaranteed to decrease in value. :p

FWD and power don't mix

Post 29

Tell that to the owner of the 8 second Hyundai Tiburon down south. :P

you guys who think you can't have a shit load of power in a FWD have NO clue!

fwd and power dont mix.... you get in a rwd and i get in a fwd same weight and power... see who wins buddy....

U get in a FWD and a RWD and do a track.. RWD will do better around the corners..

hey there are plenty of fast FWD cars out there but if FWD was the be all and end all TOP Feul dragcars would be FWD.

on a track you can't bet AWD, and on a track at almost every elite level of motorsport it's either RWD or AWD.

FWD cars ar fundementally flawed in the way the deliver power. but there still loads of fun.

but clearly i nor anyone else in the motoring world have a clue on the matter at all. but i'm sure you can correct us in the error of our ways Ph3n

on a side note went for a spin in a slightly modified BF XR6T last night have to say very impressed i'd buy one if i had the money.

Exactly, as I said, there's an 8 second Tiburon down south, you get civics pulling mid to low 9s but FWD cars suffer severly from traction problems, cause when you accellerate hard the car tends to put more weight to the rear wheels therefore more traction at the rear

Quote from outofammo:

Not true...well the "you can't beat AWD" part anyway. yeah the japs have a few nice AWD's EVo's WRX's GTR's and shit, but look at the European market..Le Mans cars and shit...they are nearly all RWD.

and yeah XR6T's are nice... we are putting a whole bunch of shit on my boss' XR8 at the moment, including some phat forced induction :D

ok see you at the track next yer ph3n for lapsprints

honestly dude you clearly have never tried racing around a course in a fwd car. like i said they are flawed in there power delivery. if the wheels that are powering the car are also the ones that steer it there is always going to be a problem. they understeer like a mofo. sure there pretty quick no doubting that but better is a far strech of the imaginiation.

i love FWD fanboys ZOMG CIVIC FTW

Post 42

Whatever dickhead, they understear like a mofo? lol... I know they understear... but learn how to drive one first, and get some decent suspension.... god dude...

Its over now.. you have your opinion I have mine.. It's finished.

Post 43

You can suspension all you want, due to the laws of physics FWD's will always understeer bad compared to a RWD. The reason is the tyres doing the turning are also the ones doing the driving, you have 2 sets of forces on them, one trying to spin them one way, the other force pushing them another way, what happens is they break traction and start spinning, and you are now sliding the wheels you are trying to turn with. With the right suspension setup yes, they CAN handle like they are on rails, however if it lets go, it will be an understeer slide to the finish.

Rear drive on the other hand the front wheels have no extra force outside of the push of the car, and as such can be pointed any which direction without much consequence to understeer, the back of the car can then break traction and slide around to try and line up with the front wheels.

Both can understeer/oversteer, however FWD will never be able to take turns as well as a RWD given equivalent suspension setups.

Post 44

Like it said... learn how to drive it and you wont understear it.... the 2 different set ups lets you drive a different way and make it just as efficient...

Im not being biased because I own a FWD.... I'm saying it because i've raced front and rear wheel drives before, It probably just cones down to personal preference and how you drive to which you will be best in....

outofammo im not trying to be an all mighty god on wheels and know everything about cars.... im just stating what i've found from personal experience .. so if you want to start being a smart ass then blow it out your arse and keep your sarcasm to yourself.

Post 45

im sorry allan but why do u think all race car types F1, indy, supercars.. All drive off RWD... its better then FWD.. yes you might be able to drive a FWD car around a track without spinning out or understeering.. But someone can drive a RWD around the track faster using the RWD more to get around the corners.. but then AWD will be better then that

Post 46

lol... ok, fine whatever. You guys win lol I'm happy if you guys are.

Post 47

There was a 15 year old girl that went around hidden valley in a FWD and beat an R34..... but r34s are AWD, turbo.... but wait.... MUST be set up if she was in a FWD car...

well concidering they don't let the public race around hidden valley i hardly see how she won.
They do however do lapsprints.
IF your talking about the bayside blue R34 GTR it was having some problems that day and the guy was taking it easy.

and not all R34's are AWD or Turbo.

And as for learning to drive, It is clearly you who needs to get some experince dude. Have you ever been around hidden Valley? have you even ever driven a RWD or AWD car? my guess by going on some of your previous comments is no on both counts. Any experinced driver will tell be able to tell you the short comings of a FWD car. There still hell fun though but my god try and hold decent speed around that hairpin at HD valley and you'll see what i mean. I am also going to assume you have never owned a powerful FWD car if the power figures arn't in the triple figures it's not powerful. because if you had you would know exactly what i am talking about.

It's not an argument dude it's a fact.

Post 49

Now by the way your talking are you trying to proove me wrong now, or are you trying to make me look like a dickhead and make people think you know what your talking about?

You have no clue what I've done or driven, You have no idea how I drive. I'm not saying you can't drive, or you know nothing... I told you its personal opinion on how people drive.

I didn't say ALL R34's are AWD and Turbo'd, but His IS.

That cars been having problems since the day he got it...

Have you ever driven a high powered FWD with good suspension?

Post 50

Do you even know how to control the god damn FWD?

You make it seem like you just put your foot down and thats it, if you turn your ****ed by understeer....

LEFT FOOT BRAKING

My old ZX7R did 11.4 sec

Post 64

Haven't run it to get a card yet but have kept up with a 10 sec GSXR 1000, who might i add was none to pleased with that fact, also have really shitted off an R1 cause i could get my power to the ground more effectively and he was wheel standing, truth on that matter is i have an older bike and he does have the better machine which again i will state it comes down to rider ability, im NO Mick Doohan or Rossi but i know my bike and my abilities

nope public can only do lapsprints and drift at HV and you are only allowed to overtake slow cars on the straight. unless your in a race class ie HQ, imporved production. ;)

there is a big diffrence between lapsprints and races.

not sure if it is the same rules for motorbikes though never been to one of those track days.
