Most of you live in darwin, and I bet some of you have internode as your ISP. I've been with them for years now, but I still getting frustrated at the amount of lag that I experience time and time again. I haven't gone a full day with no lag since I can remember, and I was just wandering if other people have the same problem. I try to play CS but alot of time my ping is at 500 for hours, also alot of time when I'm playing it keeps spiking, and normally I have to play in intervals since the lag comes at different times. I can't believe how bad it is, and I'm not sure if it is internode or something wrong with my connection. I've tried to ring internode up, but they say everything should be fine, and I know that internode is a great ISP, but they are really pissing me off. I was just wandering if I should change ISP?

wtf 500? u on dialup? i never go above 60 unless im downloading shit

Do you use a bit torent client?
Do you have it set to access Tor networks?
If you answered yes to those two questions that is most likely your problem.

im with node, never had any issues with them, albeit I have not been with them for long, but i have a ping of under 48 to most node servers.

I mean, when i have a ping of 500 it is because I'm lagging for no reason. I don't know why i am lagging, I am not d/ling, no bit torrent program open, not doing anything. I get about 60 ping when it is ok, but lags always happens to me.
I just went to play counter-strike, and I starting to get my ping going from 60 up to 150-200 while playing. It just goes up and down, spiking for no reason. I was just playing for like 30 minutes, before my ping went back to 500, for about 10-15 minutes. And right now, it is spiking from 60 to 300.

Yea, i always thought that, because I have had this ADSL modem for ages. For like 5 years. Do you know any good modems that are priced reasonable well??

Node has been good for me in Darwin. The problems with high ping have been thanks to faulty TELSTRA equipment.
You should be able to pick up a good priced billion modem for around "00.

I live in Darwin and have node and have never experienced what you are describing. I reckon try what mungus said, borrow someones modem and give it a shot.

Downloading via a tor network with affect your network trafic by a signigicant amount even when you don't have your BT client running(and often for a number of days after). I was having similiar problems about a year ago and this is what I tracked it down too.

dude your lag issues is the first i have ever heard.. have you logged support tickets with internode? try another modem.. mabey your line is faulty..
