The rain seems to have cleared entirely; England are off to a decent start (unfortunately).

Post 4

Yeah well, that's Melbourne weather for ya. Blue skies, 5 minutes later it's coming down, then 10 minutes later it's all blue and sunshine again. Dodgey city. :)

Post 16
Oh please can we take this series 5-0!! i wanna see some Poms cry!
Post 17
Poor Poms apparently they need to get Hayden out 3 times before he is required to leave the crease.
Oh but only need to get Langer once, ah and now Flintoff is on a hattrick.
Post 18
is it me that england have learnt how to play or is there just way too much for the bowlers in the pitch.,
Post 19
Both our openers bore me. Keep the one that can cook I reckon :)
Go Ponting send in Lee to his death you knob.
Post 20
night watch man
Post 21
17 runs to match England.
Post 22
good to see haydos and symonds both knuckling down.
nice to know we can still graft out some runs when the golden trio fail
Post 23
that has to be the calmest century wave i have ever seen
Post 24
I know what a night watch man is mate.
Hoggard got the same fate. Why?
A bowler is not a good batter and should never be thrown into a low light situation like that. Cant see it.... gone.
Post 25
there's plenty of merit in sending out a lower order batsman to try fend off one or two overs at the end of a days play.

You don't seem to understand cricket :p
He's there as a cover for the top order batsmen. Better a non batsmen then a good batsmen. The last half hour or so to a day is usually in favour to the fielding side because batsmen are usually under pressure to stay in for the next day. This is why a lower order person is sent in to prevent the batsmen getting out, it's their job. Whether it's effective is a chance you just have to take.
Post 27
I dont understand cricket?
Making Brett Lee go in when he cant see the ball and strait out for a duck is a good decision? Ok then :)
Post 28
Erm why couldn't he not see the ball?
Post 29
Sure hes there to cover for the better batsmen.
but why would the better batsmen need someone to cover for him?
This has been done maybe 3-4 times in this series, correct me if im wrong but I don't think it has yet worked out.
I dont see how it is beter to put in somone who is very likely to get out oposed to someone who is unlikely to get out, especially as Wortel said in poor conditions.
As it turned out Ponting still had to go out there and now we have one less warm body to help out the last batsman trickle along.
Wouldnt it be better to put in the best batsman and tell him to block or leave everything for the last 2-3 overs. Sure its a chance but a much better one then putting in the nightwatchman IMO
Post 30
two things, brett lee can bat a bit, and just because it didn't work, doesn't make the decision bad.
justin langer got out first ball in the second innings at perth, does that make it a bad decision for him to open? no. it's cricket, it happens.

it's easier to get a batsman out early in his innings, when he's just starting, than it is when he's set and got his timing right.
sending a batsman in to face the last couple of overs of the day means he's going to have to work himself in twice, doubling, if you like, the chances of dismissing him while he's getting set.
Post 32
Hell Jason Gillespie made a double centuary as a nightwatch man lol
It's just one of those risks you take, totally up to the captain.
Post 33
rofl. trust symonds to bring up a 100 like that. was thinking it a bit odd that he was almost 100 with no sixes.
Post 34
Haha yeah can't get it any better :D

Aussies batted once had a major collapse and won in 3 days :D
LOL how bad are the poms?
Post 43
How good are we? At one point we're 5 for less than 100 still trailing by 70 or 80 runs. 6 hours of play later we won. The suicide rate is probably gonna be high in England next year.
Post 44
and the rate of schoolboys taking up cricket as a sport will drop dramatically...again
Future squad also in jeopardy
