Why is everything purple? Colourblind developer?

Post 3

Level 70... the end of the real world as you know it. Planet Earth, 2007, is now but a memory in the vast fantasty world that has consumed your every waking minute.

It's when the addication takes over and you're left wandering, empty... scared. May the good lord have mercy on your soul, or whatever is left of it.

Post 4

congratulations on beating the expansion in a week. have fun with the repetetive grinding again until next expansion.

lol i havn't played for ages, my druid on lvl 45 or something, i got like 80g i could give away if i had an account card :P

hmm might start playing again...

Post 10

Excuse me for my ignorance, didn't they say it would take just as long to level to 70 as it would 1-60? if not longer??

Post 11

feels more like 50-60 again

Post 14

There's a 61 Draenei Shaman over on KT :p

Post 15

Gratz guys... a lot of hardcore levelling no doubt. Now for the annoying rep grind no doubt and the endless joys of landing your flying mount and killing lowbies on mines etc that you wanna hit.

Currently at 65 and have to say enjoying every minute of it atm but no doubt looking forward to the big 7 0.

And as for the 1-60 thing. ATM it seems more like 50-60 as Jay said even at my mid level.

Post 16

Ding 69.
75% to go.

342 Jewelcraftig.

Curse you guys for beating me by 1 day >.<

As for the rep grind - I'm going to get Kurenai and Consortium Rep to exalted at the same time. Should only take a week of grinding :)

Post 17

Can you get netherdrake mounts from exalted consortium or are they pvp?

Post 18

Netherdrake don't appear to be implimented yet, however the faction for them looks like it is already in the game ready to go.

Post 19

No way to gain Netherwing rep yet.

Post 20

gotta say wd sean managed to get to 70 in a bit over a week and still hold down a full time job :p

It's so hard to level at high numbers.

Grats Plains :) :)

And to the rest of ya, well done.

Maybe i should go back shadow to level faster :(

Post 26

LoL Shadow makes you level quicker LoL

Ummm I know about 3 or 4 priests that went shadow. 50g later they respec'd to holy and those who didnt still arent 70 today even though they played as much as the others. Seriously its like leveling as a Prot Spec Warrior or a fire mage... its just WoWSuicide... might as well jump into the Nether!

BTW Doy if u did level up as Shadow... well ur just the MM Superpriest anyway!

Post 27

I thought shadow was the Priest levelling spec of choice :O

Post 28

Yeah it is, Holy is about 40% less DPS but has greater regen/mana etc.
The problem is there are several decent holy builds, depending on what you want to do, i think im about 32/22/0 or something similar, cant remember right now and im maxed for healing.

+600 healing at level 63 and I have 1 piece of tier 1 :)

But levelling without Spirit tap is a nightmare.

I went Holy to pwn the instances, and I do that pretty well, but solo questing its a real bitch.

Without a levelling partner its really slow :(

Verm i think your friends are on crack :)

Shadow is way more efficient for levelling, you just heal half of what a holy priest can. So bosses in instances are harder if your the only healer. Trash = VE ftw.

Post 29

i never got below 1/4 mana healing ramparts with 51 points in shadow, no backup healers. shadow ftw.

Post 30

Ramparts is pretty easy tho bud :)

I think I drink about twice in that whole place.

But yeah i think a return to shadow is in my very near future

I'd like to keep the spirit buff tho +10% spell damage and healing is very nice

Post 31

We did the botanica last night.
Last boss was an endurance fight. Doy had to blow 2 Super Mana pots while using a flask. The endurance/difficulty curve of the instances post 66 is such that a Shadowpriest would have a majorly hard time Main-healing.

Post 32

Ouch, whats Doy's mana nowadays?

Im sitting 7K fully buffed, he would have to be about 10 K yeah?

Post 33

it's pretty easy to get equal Tier 2 gear now. i've got no Tier anything on my pally and i have 907 healing, about 60 regen and almost 8500 mana unbuffed. and still have 3 or 4 items that arent what you'd call healing gear.

Post 34

fully buffed I'm about 8.5k coco (well, with just mage buff - cause its 5man)
so flask to 10.5k

I'm hovering over 1k+heal tho. haven't really upgraded heaps of my old gear yet, but I've only run like 3 instances too.

good times ahead anyhow :D

Post 35

Ramparts is sooo easy its not funny... I kept my entire group up with just VE...

Verm is right though... Shadow levelling is still a pain in the ass... Your most mana efficient spell is useless because channeling whilst you get hit = lol
To actually cast Mindflay requires bubble which is soo mana inefficient its not funny... Mindblast and SW:D are on 8s and 6s respectively so you have to wait for CD before you can Renuke (Still costs a great deal of mana) and to make matters worse in +dmg gear you get bugger all base spirit so when Spirit Tap does proc you get barely any regen in comparison to expenditure...

The thing with shadow priests is that they have comparable DPS to mages, Complement heals from generally a backup healer class (Pally, Shammy) and if need be can come out of SF and help with main heals (at the loss of huge DPS though)... Instancing, a Shadow priest is better on DPS as the mob will die faster than the dedicated healer (Pally or shammy) can go oom...
If you have a pally in the group its even less likely as VE = mana and VT = mana for pallies due to their lame heals - Mana skill...

Post 36

Thats nice Doy, good setup you have their it seems :)

As for levelling with the bubble Leo, that's what I use my wand for, bubbling then wanding while SWP etc ticks down gets you out of the 5 sec rule so when your spirit tap procs , which is 100% with 5 points isnt it your geting max mana regen 200-300 a tick back straight away.

I still bubble while nuking as holy, even with focused casting if you dont bubble well your going to need to renew anyways due to the slow casting from getting beat on.

I find myself chain smiting atm as holy with +300 spell damage and its boring as hell :)

+ my horse looks gay without the shadow effect

Have you replaced your tier 2 Heretic or this char never had any?

Thats hell nice +healing altho your mana regen seems low.
Or is that just a pally thing vs priests?

You get blessing to make up for it tho yeah?

Post 38

spirit tap!? bah. blackout ftw. chain pull 5-6 mobs, drink, repeat.

i didnt raid at all with my pally. he had mostly tier 0.5 and ubrs gear :p

and it is possible to have more regen. but greater blessing of wisdom with talent now does about 50 mana per 5 seconds. which is 600 extra mana a minute. so its more like 110-120 regen. which is quite nice. can flash heal forever :p not that that means much in these boss fights anymore.

Post 40

Yeah dont need to max your regen out with that kind of bonus.

Got a CTprofile or something I can look at to see what ya got for ++healing.

See what im missing :)

lenko, me and jono pretty much leveled together from 63-68, doing all the group quests, instances with help of a few others in about 4 days. i was leveling holy anyway so it worked out sweet becuase our specs complimented eachothers and we powered through the quests.

If you are wearing Holy type gear its 200 - 300 mana per tick... I pull about 170 spirit in my damage gear (+463 shadow damage) and when spirit tap procs it means i go to about 340 spirit which equates to about 100 or so mana per tick... The mobs in BC have quite a lot more life than the ones I was used to back in Azeroth so that I don't get owned I'm finding I have to spent more mana to get them down to wanding stage... Its hard with a priest... you can spend less mana and wand more but take heaps more time, or you can kill it really quickly use a lot of mana but spend more time drinking...

Post 43

I think we all agree Priests have a retarded mana regen model.

Post 44

Its not mana regen model... its lack of Interrupt Resist talents... I want Improved Mindflay which increases chance to resist interruption whilst casting mindflay by 20% for 1 point :P

Post 45

I want to stop getting nerfed with the warlocks...or at least get some of their skills

Ctprofiles are ****ed atm :/ Not sure what's wrong with it. i'll give you a list of what i've gotten in BC and where they're from.

Main hand: http://www.thottbot.com/?i=59576 (The Machanar, Tempest Keep, level 70 5 man, quite hard, first boss.)

Rings x2: http://www.thottbot.com/?i=55575 (Hellfire Ramparts, really easy to get, out of the chest after the last boss. 2 runs, 2 rings.)

Booties: http://www.thottbot.com/?i=58858 (Shattered halls, level 70 5 man, very long, very hard instance. pulls with 7 mobs at stages)

Gloves: http://www.thottbot.com/?i=59521 (The Botanica, level 70 5 man, not hard with 2 CC classes, but not easy. 30 to healing enchant is from Sha'Tar honoured rep)

neck: http://www.thottbot.com/?i=58045 (Quest to finish Sethekk halls, not that hard)

Cape: http://www.thottbot.com/?i=58080 (Second mana tombs boss. if you have mana...you will HATE this instance)

Trinket: http://www.thottbot.com/?i=57716 (Easiest. quest. ever.)

Trinket: http://www.thottbot.com/?i=58376 (Chain quest in netherstorm. just do all the quests there and you'll come across it.)

appart from that there isnt much of note.

Post 47

Gah never seen those rings drop yet in Ramparts....keep getting the freaking polearm.

Post 48

the polearm should be from the guy. but after you kill the dragon you should get a chest that appears. in it both times from us was a damage ring, and a healing ring. instantly i had 4 upgrades :D

Post 49

I think we have opened the chest about 4 times :(

Polearm x 2
Resiliance ring x1
Plate shit x1
Decent Shammie Mail x1
Nice healing shit x 1

Done ok but havent seen that ring yet, prolly worth another run thru or two to at least get one :)

Post 50

pally spells cost them alot less to cast than us.

as far as healers go, they're sooo much more efficient its stupid. we just have the raw aoe power, hot's etc.

Post 51

How's POM?

Sounds quite nice, I bet they nerf it :P

Post 52

yeh, being instant cast and low mana cost is awesome. you can chuck 2 or three of those up on different people, 1 or 2 renews.. and sit back and do nothing for a while :p

Post 53

Yeah im gonna hit back shadow tonite and power to 68 and then go back Holy :)

Post 54

yeh, for sure. shadow leveling's the ticket.. and like pala said, you can just switch out in most instances and chuck on your healing gear if necessary.

its not until like, now.. that healing's really been a priority.

Post 55

i'd just skip every instance till you hit 70 coco. they are all really hard. and most have level 70-72 mobs. at 70 you can spec holy and have no fear of respeccing for the next forever :)

Post 56

I like the instances tho :)

Blood Furnace was awesome visually

Once you get to 68, just keep on power leveling. It actually isn't that far. I did the last 2 levels from afternoon to the morning (technically, I left one bar to 70 because I ran out of quests and went to sleep so I could get rested xp).

WRONG

But Ill give you a clue... NEED MORE RAGE... NOT ENOUGH RAGE...

Doy is a SUPER PRIEST... the Holy priest I quested with 50% of the time did nothing but the occassional heal and he DPS'd like no tomorrow. Oh well I go from what the guys I party with say but if Shadow is UBER leveling spec then so be it. Either way wont see no healing class from me... next is a frost mage seeing as I dinged 70 last night.

Post 60

yeh, there's some pretty decent holy dps specs out there, most grab the crit and +dmg from the disc tree.

I remember arma saying that his spec was pretty much on par with a shadow spec, for mana efficiency back in the day - it was pretty reliant on crit, but I've never played with that one.

the only drawback was he said that shadow was still the winner for pvp, which I don't think any of us were doing anyway atm. (other than fending off the gankers, which is the main reason I stuck with shadow for leveling :p)

edit: i.e. it's probably something like this

Hahaha have they fixed you poor guys yet, seems you guys got the bad end of the stick atm , or are you finding it better at 70?

As for a holy damage/levelling build, sure you can make a decent one but you won't do the DPS/mitigation/number stacks (weaving, misery etc) of a shadow priest, might get a better crit rate however.

I went back shadow last nite after 60-63 of grinding Holy.

Fricken awesome imo :p

Ewww what a build.... 44 points in Disc and No Pain Suppression?
Holy spells have good topend... I've seen Holy Fire crit for 4k+ pre-BC and pre 41 point talents...

The only problem with Holy spec DPS is that you sacrifice a lot of bread and butter healing talents to stack crit (making you essentially useless as a healer)... your spells are longer cast so when you take hits it sucks hard... And if you don't crit you essentially do bugger all damage... On the plus side however, there are minimal resist mechanics for holy damage so you don't get horrible partial resists like shadow gets...

Holy spec damage priests are essentially a novelty thing when you have so much gear it hurts no matter what you do (i.e. Beckon from PvPriest videos)
and its kinda hilarious to watch these huge numbers come out of nowhere...

As long as you have decent shadow gear Coco levelling is fine... So long as you aren't doing it in healing gear because thats just as painful as holy levelling...

Post 68

each to their own, I guess. I'd prefer the extra mana, or -threat for instance healing to reflect that its a crit build.

I didn't see an encounter up to 70 that needed it. most of my leveling was soloable quest mobs, so why waste the point imo.

Post 69

All my healing gear is in the bank, from +600 down to +300 and my damage is about +400. Im not running any instances for at least a week so i'll see how much I can grind out.

It seems the items get a lot better at level 68+

That netherweave shit isnt worth making and wearing is it Doy?

Post 70

I dinged 70 last night, still in 8/8 Tier 2 and Drakefang Talisman although I have replaced my neck, rings, 1 trinket, cape and bow.

Post 71

for damage, I just picked up random pieces. didnt get anything crafted.
think I replaced my belt on the first day with a green, then didnt replace anything else until about 65-66. I was still using the pvp set for dmg, and the aq40 staff at 70. replaced everything else though.

imo, go random pieces. some of those chains have awesome rewards.
now, I'm hovering just over 500dmg without having to ninja the instance caster gear.

healing wise to 70, I didn't replace anything except to grab the healing mace from the ring of blood quest line. my gear was pretty good healing wise though. already had about 900 +heal and reasonable stats pre-BC.

Post 72

Rogue or Hunter, wrath?

My rogue was 6/8T2 and 2/5DeathDealer.
Already down to 2pcs of T2 and 1pc of DD.
Got hold of insane blues :)

Post 73

Hunter FTW

Not a lot of good replacements for T2 along the way and definately nothing worth breaking set bonuses for. I'm also a Dragonscale Leatherworker so I'm currently farming mats to make the Ebon Netherscale gear - which is better than Tier 5 equivalent and can be worn with the Tier set and you get all set bonuses from both.

Also I'm loving the mechanic and itemisation changes we got in 2.0, I went from 500 to 550 DPS fully buffed and potted to the extreme up to 700 to 800 with minimal buffs. And my pet is now awesome too, my Bear tanked the Ring of Blood event in Nagrand as well as the Gronn in Nagrand and Blade's Edge.

Post 74

Nerf hunters.

Have you done many 70 instances yet?

We've cleared out most of them and there are som really nice lewts to be had :)

Post 75

Nah not yet, I've been concentrating on quests and stuff first, once I got the majority of quests out of the way I'll start turning my attention to instances.

Post 76

Hunters, preists and warlocks will recive nerfs in later patches :P so enjoy your day in the sun.

and coco i know the instances are cool :P but im just saying shadow till 70 so when you respec to holy you wont have to worry about soloing mobs much :P just go out with a mage and aoe farm.

Post 77

Yeah true mate, thats the plan now, at least until 68 and I get Prayer of Mending.

Priests aren't too powerfull atm , they were a lot stronger before patch 2.0 :)
The need to be a strong tho cause otherwise noone would play them.

Hunters i reckon they ****ed up the nerf, all they had to do was change the way their cooldowns worked i thought and it would have been ok.

Warlocks...*shiver* they are scissors to my paper so I have never really had a good chance w/fellhunter.

I hear Rogue's own them pretty well now

Post 78

Hunters just got nerfed :p

The thing is in PvP once people are wearing stam and resillience gear Hunters will balance out, our crit rate is low compared to other classes as it is. Problem with nerfing damage is we struggled to keep up in instances after MC until the 2.0 changes which overpowered us in PvP. Resillience nerfs out PvP burst damage but doesnt affect our PvE.

Post 79

i'm talking about the ability to own an elite designed for a group of 3. warlocks, priests and hunter do this :p therefore, they will be nerfed, and i mean pve. who cares about pvp. its so boring.

Post 80

My DPS gear I begun replacing at about lvl 61 with legs and trickets, rings and cape. By lvl 70 I have only replaced 1 ring and my neckpiece in my tanking set. My 8/8 T2 with all its bonuses and enchants just rules the roost. I really need another set to mesh with it asap.

Post 81

They can't really nerf that though without redisigning the entire class. They'd aslo have to go back and do Pallies, Mages and Warlocks cause they can all do the same thing. At L60 a Pally in our guild solo'd all the Marauders in Silithus at once for example.

Post 82

What they need to do is split PvE / PvP Damage tables and limit specific abilities/spells to Player/Mob only.
They did it with Curse of Doom, so the mechanic is proven to be there already.

Post 83

a pet with 10k armour is ridiculous. pallys have always and will always be able to solo elites. but we suck at most other things including pvp dps. warlocks can pvp solo any class. pve solo any mob. that is the difference. damage is the key.

i remember lenko got dotted by a warlock. over 75% of his dps after they wore off. just from 2 dots.

Post 84

All the classes are somewhat balanced(ish) now except for Warriors... they are the only class which reserves the right to QQ...

Priests scale insanely stupidly with gear... thats the thing... at 400 shadow damage your VT, SW: P, and Mindflay will all tick for 300ish so in 3 seconds thats like 1500 damage... Then factor in your Mindblast and SW:D and thats another 2k non crit and up to 4k crit on 8s and 6s CD...
In more endurance PvE situations I pump out about 300 sustained DPS, Heal about 200 - 300 per second and Return a buttload of mana to me and my party... Priests need a change in the holy trees because they are lackluster but thats about it...

Pallies got buffed I don't know what you are crying about... It takes at least 6 - 7 people in PvP trying hard to take one down and now that Ret got some nice burst increases... They will never really have sustained DPS but by god are Pallies the best burst PvP class...

Druids do so much damage now its not funny, Warlocks have always pwnt hard and Rogues got the OMG I WIN Cloak of Shadows dots = lol no.

But warriors got bugger all and are desperately in need of a review...

Post 85

Yup nothing funnier than blackout proccing on a charging/intercepting warrior :)

Was it mainly the rage generation nerf that hit so hard?

Post 86

Not sure but I feel sorry for warriors and agree, they deserve the right to weep...it's actually quite depressing reading their posts lately :-/

Also 10k armour on a pet isn't the same at L70 as it was at L60. My pet has much less damage reduction at L70 despite having 10000 armour unbuffed as opposed to only 6300 at L60.

Edit: Should probably add my pet is specced specifically for tanking as well. It's DPS blows chunks.

Post 87

warlocks have NOT always pwnt hard, originally warlocks were one of the shittiest pvp classes. As for pwning hard now, yes there is a way for me to beat any class, but it requires that I have the right pet out for each one, that's not always going to be the case.

Post 88

here's life levelling as a warrior:

charge mob. hit mob. hit mob again. oh crap two mobs respawned next to me already, and that patrolling mob arrived as well.

here's life questing as a warrior:

yay quest finished... oh ffs more pally plate on offer.

Only a rogue should beat you atm. Perhaps a nicely geared Hunter might.

All other classes dont stand a chance bud.

Guess what the no 1 Mob causing death to players is in the game. A felguard.

I heard you guys were a free HK for the first year or so tho ehh?

Post 90

The nubmers a bit skewed tho, Felguard cleave hits multiple targets and puts them in the Hit-list and since individual players dont get listed, the felguard scores all the kills ;P

And yeah - Warlocks were the free honour kill for any class for the first year of wow.

Now everyones crying over rogues getting Cloak of Shadows.
Well, what most people dont realise is that it can't be cast while feared, poly'd or generally incapacitated, it lasts only for 5 seconds and thus if mistimed, is almost completely useless.

Used correctly, at the right time, by a skilled rogue, they will destroy a caster.
Its the way rogues should have been operating from day 1.

Post 91

i didnt complain about my dps. but compaired to every other class we have a lack of. play a paladin to 70 and talk to me that we have good burst dps. and any paladin who is ret has no friends :p

Post 92

It also still has a cooldown so essentially in pvp terms it can only get used once during a pvp fight.

Also a number of other classes have gained new dots.

CoS removes all debuffs that you may have at time of popping... and has 1m CD and gives you 90% spell resist... You are invincible for 5 secs which for a decently geared rogue is about 2k- 3k+ of damage with only 1 really cheap cooldown popped... As it was I couldn't beat rogues unless I got super lucky with Stun resists and they missed the first CS... Now its like damn near impossible for me to deal with rogues because they can CoS out of my only stealth control...
Its not completely balanced... its about on par with Death Coil and its lame 2s horror effect, heal and damage on 2m CD... But Blizzard are hardly going to nerf it so I think us other classes have a right to QQ

Fear, Shield, ranged spells? I think someone needs to learn to play :p

At the time of popping CoS, the rogue would be doing it out of being out of range usually in which should have feared them. In 5 seconds the rogue would typically just have enough time to run back into melee range again.

The base reason for high close range damage is the lack of armour, hp and ranged attack (consistent dps not I HAVE THINGYMATHROWY). Oh and a lack of self-buff, let alone any providable group support (other than some talents like imp KS for group dps).

Fear is trinketed within like the first second and you get pwnt... Shield means nothing because they tear through it and unlike warriors rogues lack a need for rage... Spells get interrupted something chronic and if you get kicked thats lol no shadow spells from that school for enough time to rip your face off...
Shadow priests have 1 control in fear and its on a 26s cooldown when specced... popping trinkets or getting WoTF popped on your ass doesn't usually get them far out of melee range which means they are back on your ass killing you with you sitting there unable to do anything...
Not to mention if you do get them out of melee range, 8s of fear is nothing and they do have sprint, deadly throw, blind (10yd range btw) and vanish if needed... In terms of utter "zomg hax" CoS lives up there with Deathcoil

Oh one more thing... CoS removes all dots so whilst they are supposed to be getting pwnt enough by my dots so that I can get a SW: D off for the win (if i actually get that far) they just go lol no and you get denied...

Can you tell I hate fighting rogues?

yeh, rogues are nasty for priests, but then, they've always been nasty for priests. it was always pretty touch and go, especially against a stunlock build and someone who knows how to play it.

other classes seem to come and go as far as being difficult to pvp goes, but if you had to pick a nemesis class, it'd be rogues :p

Warlocks kill me much better than rogues do :)

back in the day I was a holy undead priest and rogues had no chance. In fact rogues and prot specced warriors were the easiest prey.
