Looking at a new place to buy and interested to know if people in Wulagi in the Northern Territory can get ADSL. I know Karama, a couple of suburbs over, used to have problems but not sure if its still the case.
The local exchange is Casuarina and I know that is enabled, just not sure on distances etc.
I've asked the estate agent if the current owners would consider applying for ADSL to see if their line would support it and then cancel the order but won't hold my breath.
If anyone is in Whimbrel Cres that has ADSL that would be handy.
If you're a serious buyer and stipulate this is something that you must have, they would be crazy not to help you out unless they have plenty of other offers. After all you're spending hundreds of thousands.
I've knocked back houses because of unavailablity of broadband. Make sure you get everything you want, even the little things, otherwise small regrets can eat away at ya.
The other thing to try is grab their phone number and put it into the availability checkers, not conclusive but will give you some idea.
I stipulated that they confirm ADSL availability in the house i just bought before the sale was finalised. Turns out the previous ownes had it already so was OK. The house before that I got the missus to distract the agent and dialled my mobile from their home phone to get the number and then ran it through the checker online. Even today most agents I have dealt with give you a blank stare when ADSL is mentioned and CBF finding out for you. Stipulate it in the contract as a condition of sale and get it agreed to be switched on before the contract goes unconditional, and you can't go wrong.
