Depends on the individual I guess. I can't be drawn in and be engrosed by a world of fantasy and story telling if it looks like arse.
It's part of the reason I was never interested in WoW either; the cartoon look gave me the shits.

I'd imagine $80 mark, but you don't have to pre-order to get a key.
Just open a new(free) subscription to Gamespot via their website and get a free key. Assuming you want one :p

I was listening to Gamespot's weekly podcast over the weekend and they were saying something like it you pay $200, you can get a lifetime membership to access this game.
Definately a sign that this may bomb out.

Yeah - Open Beta's are great for testing the waters.
If the Beta doesn't appeal to me in a gameplay sense, there's a good chance that the finished product wont either.
Also, they're allowing Beta characters to xfer over to Live, once it actually goes Live. Thats a recipe for suck, right there.

I am updating my client now and seeing if I can play now.

Played for 6 hours straight and got to level 8. Liked the grafix as of yet.
Playing on a small resulution I dont recomend because it is just too cluttered on screen. I have a 1440x900 and it is the sweet spot for me.
I started up a Champion character (prety much like a flury warr in wow) as an elf. There is several different starting locations and different family historys
There is 5 or 6 classes so far
Champoin
Tank
Summoner type
Healer
Schollar (i cant spell)
and last Minstro
The Different races Human M/F Darwalf M Elf M/F And Hobbits (i cant rember but there might be only male hobits)
There was 10 servers there today and probally cause it is the first days of beta the servers were full. I found even in the city type arears there was no lag to be seen of course there wasent as many people say in the AH of wow but still comparable.
As of game play i am not really commenting on it because it is still in beta meaning some of the little things that i don't like would be possibly be fixed!!
Questing side of things there is a sorta finite, it is very sequential sort of thing (i like it over wow in this respect)
And please dont pick me on things like wow vrs LOTR online untill you have played both!

So is game play go target mob watch character kill then repeat x amount of times till you level then go and repeat the same process in a new area?
Is there any proper in game story? any NPC character development or anything?

Nah the only grinding i do is on the bosses. The best XP comes from the chain quests!

Its a WoW Clone. Also the ranged DPS class uses mechanics that the guys from WoW scrapped because it doesnt work. Basically they get their ability to use specials by standing still, the longer they stand still the more they can do. What this means is the class will be rendered completely useless on any fight that involves any sort of movement. PvP will be a no go, and anything more complex than Molten Core-esque stand still and shoot the boss will be worthless.

Ya cant make a Kinship unless you have the game preordered. I will be starting up Flames / Torches of the West Kinship. Will be all australian and I am going to use the =bURnT= vent and web page, hence the Fire theme for the name. If the servers say the same name and all Arkenstone will be the one that i play on.
So far i have 15 Elf Champion 15 Elf Loremaster and working on a Minstrel next.
My preorder key should come in a day or so. That will be when the Kinship will be up

BTW australian retailers don't get their stock untill the 9th of may. Apparantly atari australias fault. You also have to have updated you account by the 15th to get founder benefits.
