I am thinking about going on a Barramundi fishing charter. I've been in Darwin forever and feel it's my duty to go and catch one :-)
Has anyone being on a charter that they could recommend?

obsession. my mate's, sister's husband used to own it. also, do not go with "the guru". he will not catch you fish.

yeah in about 5 weeks when the water drops.
Go on a charter in 4-5 weeks when the water drops and you will get a fish on any boat if they know what they are doing.

unseen charges good - but fish is a problem unless u have a cast net

From what I've read the 'run off' is the key time to fish for barra. That time is now or at least very soon.

run off depends where u are going .. shady head to the mouths 40km.
South and East your looking at 5 weeks.
Adelaide arnhem highway bridge is pretty much over. the mouth is still very high though.

I haven't a clue where to go, or how to go about it - hence the thought of a charter.
I thought, as a reward for kicking my arse at uni I'd shout myself a charter :-)
and maybe a PS3 *mega grin*

The Daly will start to fire from this weekend. Water level is still about 12metres, will make for an excellent Barra Nationals this year..can't wait till next week.
Some river areas are doing well as long as you can get there, 4x4 access only. Many people over the Easter break hit the blue and headed off to the mouths and close in rivers and did well.
All in all there is too much water and you will find the fish running in small sessions, another week and you will see the start of the run off fishing in some of the areas. That is when the real the fun starts.
Cant reccommend any charters but most should do well but i would suggest you leave the river fishing for a bit longer and hit the Blue instead. Try Top End Fishing Supplies, they own and operate Arafura Blue Water Charters.

someone told me the daly was lower than 14m. more like 6 but i'm not 100%

If anyone arranges a blue water charter on a weekend, ill go.
Ive done heaps of barra fishing, got my over a metre barra (brag brag).
Anyway, i love reef fish so if someone organises a trip through a charter, count me in.
