Most places will tint beyond the legal limit if asked, but they aren't responsible if you get pulled over :p

friends xr5 came with really dark tinting the mvr looked at it and said well it came stock with the car have fun.

Post 6

It does say that the tint is legal on the website...

$440 is alot to pay.. you'd want to make dam sure it is legal otherwise you'll be crying when you have to rip the mofo out after getting defected :p

Post 7

Yeah, THAT tint is legal, but you can get Darker, which is what i was hinting at.

Post 8

I had illegal tint in my old car and got defected. Not for the tint but for dumping the clutch and smoking the cops off at the lights. $700 in fines and a yellow canary later (they were not amused) I was at the MVR they knocked me back on tint the first time but the next time didn't even check it. $440 is about right for a 4 door sedan or wagon.

Post 9

Tidy Car won't do illegal tinting.

Post 10

yeah ok dont want an illegal tint.. wanting to know about the best legal tint around.

Post 11

nobody will defect you for it, one look at your head and they'll understand you're doing a public service by marking the windows so dark

Post 12

So Metal who did you end up getting tint through and how much did it cost? I have a Fiesta I'm thinking of tinting while I can still afford it and was quoted $350 by Chamelion @ Stuart Hwy, St Park. I think this is a bit excessive but maybe this is just what it costs in Darwin. From what I've read online - southern prices for tint seem to vary from about $200 - $300 so I'm thinking this is a bit of a rip and then I read your post saying > $400! Fark.

Anyone else got some relevant info to add?

Post 15

Dont go to Tidy Car.. Had to go back 4 times.. still not right.. i just ended up not paying..

Post 16

I've heard that Chamelion come highly recommended. So i'll be heading there for my tinting needs. I'll let you know how I go in two weeks.

Post 17

Anyone tried Tintacar? :P

Tintacar was my first thought.. whenever you think tint you think Tintacar.

Chamelion was recommended to me by the bloke who sold me my car and said he'd been sending people there for years with good results but at the time I wasn't fussed. That was just heading into the dry lol.
