A 17-year-old girl by the name of Lara Jade (a well-known photographer on DeviantART and a bunch of other arty websites such as Flickr) has had a photo of herself (taken at age 14) stolen and used on the cover of a 1980's porn DVD titled "Body Magic". Lara lives in the UK, and the perpetrators are based in the US, making it more difficult for her to bring these people to justice that it would be normally. She would require a minimum of ?50,000 to take the issue to court, which she obviously doesn't have. So, the next best thing for her to do is to put her story out there and make others aware of such arseholes and ruin their reputation for good. See the full story here:
She was famous before her work got stolen - and she uploaded large files of her work, with copyright notices in easy-to-remove places. That said, it's no invitation for anyone to steal her work; it just makes it easier for people to do so.
I will be letting the child protection people in the US know that the company is using a photo of a 14 year old girl to sell pornos. Might not get money oweing for her work but someone is likely to get a nock on the door from the feds.
This is outrageous, I'm very disapointed. It's sad to see in this day and age. How can they use a 14yo girl on the cover of a porn DVD and not have her in the movie!? *shakes head* I expected better from the noble porn industry.
