Lewis Hamilton had played second fiddle to McLaren Mercedes team-mate Fernando Alonso throughout practice, but when it counted, the Montreal race winner showed his pace and claimed Pole Position for the United States Grand Prix.
It was an all McLaren battle for supremacy again, as was the case in Canada a week ago. Alonso had enjoyed a flawless weekend, topping the time sheets in all three practice sessions, but Hamilton stopped the clocks with a best lap of 1:12.331s, 0.169s ahead of Alonso.

I'm staying up for this one. The carnage on the first corner last year has me interested enough to hang around for the start at least.
Looks like McLaren has better drivers to me. I would have thought Ferrari could take pole here with their high revving engine. Might be saving it for race pace. All the slow cars will be found out on that huge strait. Hope none of the noobs hit the wall at 300kmph, it'll hurt :grin:
Lewis Hamilton never ceases to amaze me, I truly believe that after watching the race tonight he can win the championship in his first year. He raced well all race and defended against Alonso beautifully into turn 1 during the second stint.
Also special mention to Mark Webber for not only finishing a race but socring two championship points and Sebastian Vettel who at the age of 19 scored 1 piont for BMW Sauber on debut, I hope he enjoyed the race because he'll be back as BMW test driver next week as Robert Kubica will be return from injury for the next round at Mangy-Cours in France.
