I'm still trying to figure out if it's just some awesome gesture made by the consumate best rock band in the entire world that probably have enough money for multiple lifetimes, or if this is just a big **** you to the whole record industry.

Radioheads albums Kid A and OK Computer I put in my personal category of best alternative sounds along with,
Massive Attack - Mezzanine,
Pink Floyd - The Wall,
The Mars Volta - Frances The Mute.
Although not a large radiohead fan i do listen to those 2 LP's quite often.
But I gotta say this is one of the crazier ideas a rock band has come up with. I'd imagine this won't really catch on as new bands need cash slighty more than radiohead :P
Just finished my first listen though, and as I said to Dan, I guess I shouldn't be suprised - because I don't think they can fail. They have too much of their minds and souls invested in what they do for it to be bad.
The entire album is brilliant. Remnant of Amnesiac/Kid A (Kid A being the greatest album in the history of the universe).
Time for another listen-through.
