Talk me out of getting one. I'm on the verge of buying one w/50% on finance. Are there any REAL alternatives... that are actually nice looking laptops?

Haha thats the problem, they seem too good to be true. Have you had any issues with yours?.. I want to run XP or Vista with bootcamp and use it for gaming aswell.

haven't tried vista, but xp runs in bootcamp fine. played supreme commander and eve online no problems

Oh, most importantly, if I do get one.. glossy or matte?.. I have no idea which is better. I have a matte iBook which has served me pretty well.

glossy screens are ****ing cock sucking **** sniffing shit lickers

Mine is great EXCEPT for battery life in vista bootcamp. Tested using the cnet dvd battery test it lasted 1h25m in Vista to 3h20m in OSX (screen at half brightness). But that just means i have to use OSX while not plugged in. This is with the latest ones with the 15" LED backlit screen.
As far as performance goes, it'll crap on just about anything else. I play bioshock in high detail no probs.
As for the screen i got matte as i use it outside a bit. Its more or less if you use it outside/backing against a window get matte, otherwise glossy. (I like matte more anyway)
Just one last thing, Apple has FANTASTIC shipping. I ordered mine on a Wed afternoon at 4:30pm my time (5pm sydney time where they are shipped from) and it got here in the morning. I'd like to note that i live in Darwin and this is the FIRST TIME EVER ive got something overnight. ^^
All in all, one of the best laptops out there

Yeah I was siding more with the matte option.. but what do you base that on? apparently, according to Apple.. "they give improved and more vibrant image quality"

they do indeed - but dont wear a light coloured shirt or sit in front of a light coloured background. my eyes are generally screwed by the end of a day when i've been using my laptop - work shirts here are white, tho at least i got lucky with the purple wall behind me.
reflection is a bitch, and for me, it completely kills any quality gain in overall picture representation.

Mmm, good point. What kind of work do you use your macbook for?

i dont have one - saddly. Got an Alienware notebook with the glossy screen, wife has an HP with the same thing, neither of us can stand the reflection.
Mine is primarly used for coding tho, some games.

Yeah, I think I'll go with the matte after hearing that.
