Was anyone else sorely dissapointed in this game, I was I didnt play for a great deal, it was just so.......repetative, I dunno i played the beta version, and well like i said i was dissapointed, maybe if i buy a new gfx card ?

Post 5

yeah a new gfx card will really stop the gameplay being repetetive.

Post 6

just go back to the king

ie diablo 2

Post 7

HGL is a pretty cool game, but yes, it's very repetitive.
But then again, Diablo2 was extremely repetitive as well. Hack n Slashers always will be.

The lack of having open zones where you can see / meet new people makes the game extremely secular. If you don't party with someone, you will never see another person unless you're in a hub/town. Very much like Guildwars is.

That said, it's a good game if you're into Solo pve - you can literally level as fast (if not faster) than by grouping, which has its pro's and con's.

I don't think it compares to Diablo 2, the ambiance, setting, skills, actual story integrated into the game and just about everything else shit over Hellgate London :0

Post 9

You can still draw similies between them, though.

I did like squire wart tho,i think it may be the indoor thing and no ppl no story, just didnt grab me

1.6G

OH WELL got it last nite, i'll give it my 2 cents once i play it tonite.

Post 12

Hope you download it from internode when you play online.

Post 13

lol xaine :P

Yeah i didnt really have much time for it either, no way it is anywhere near the awesomeness of Diablo 2.

Post 14

Having played both the single player demo, and the beta online, it left such a bad taste in my mouth that I dusted off Diablo 2, installed it, and am now playing it again (online).

Which doesn't make sense, seeing as it's (pretty much) the same team.

Post 15

is it really tho? or is it ex-blizzard employees as in "we have the same receptionist, cleaner, and coffee boy that were around when blizzard made diablo"?

Post 16

Yeah aegis has a point, i really don't think they are the same, even if they are, they lack the execs that blizzard has that make them perfectionists.

meh ive been playing hellgate and enjoying the experience so far and have to say, most of the ideas are pretty the usual mmo style game play but has most differences.

the setup or TOWN style is still in effect but with a modern twist...

the wepion system is interesting and the fact all factions can wield a gun is very nice... kinda evens the odds in some parts... but the gun classes obviously have much more powerful guns aka assault and sniper rifles

im loving the grapple hook you get (i now have a 25 dmg poison/fire/stun grapple) allowing you to pull a single enemie away from a massive horde of enemies that you will encounter.

the fact that Ariel combat comes into play is a nice twist, i love the combat where a melee literary has to jump to attack some Ariel opponents (some abilities allow you to jump like 15 feet into the air and slice open the bastards)

i also like the fact you have to MAKE your pet.... i mean 15 pints of blood some skin ... ect...

im also liking the idea of shields makes the game a bit more interesting...

my 3 1/2 cents ...

is it really tho?

Yes, it is.

Making the pet was part of the halloween event.

it was o.k i have to play online i guess to get the co-op feeling. nice gadets thou..

Post 21

You can still play up to Temple Station using the beta client, but can't get any further.
You have to have a retail key to progress.

It's not worth buying though, so I'm done.

Post 22

it feels like where Rune was at back in 2000, just with shinier graphics.

Post 23

I bought it and enjoying it altough it does lack that polish that a great game would have. Still fun hope a few patches fix the issue and we see a lan play option is available or server options as this doesn't fell as lag tolerant as you typical MMO. BTW playing a marksman atm FPS style and the games fells alot more like what I was expecting from planet side.
