It has been disclosed to us by a representative of GotGames, CEVO's partner for Australian events, that they have plans to run their first Team Fortress 2 tournament come late January, 2008!
Gamers Underground has been told that we can expect free entry, an $800 prize pool, and a 32 team limit. It has also been explained that many regular "seasons" of TF2 play will follow, with "big" prize money - unfortunately these following tournaments are also likely to incur an entry fee of some kind.
Between this and GameArena's ladder system, I think there'll be little protest from Australian TF2 players when it comes to quality online events to take part in.
On the LAN front it seems like there is nothing concrete quite yet, but it is believed that some form of local area network TF2 tournaments may be in the pipeline for South Australia and New South Wales early next year.
