It is stated at the end of this episode that 1 million pounds current earth money = 50 million credits.
It is also implied by the people who won the competition that they spent 5000 credits on the phone bill calling the competition line. ie 100 pounds. apparently this is almost equal to the cost of a normal ticket and that it will take them 20 years to pay this off.
These are just poor milk farmers, trying to earn a living, with less than 5 pounds equivalent in disposable income per year, with both of them working.
This is an outrage. Something must be done
