I recently discovered my local; The Highway Inn ("The Highway"). Recently renovated and winning some "best pub in Australia" awards, it also has a bottle shop that's open at some ridiculous hours.
9am-12am Christmas day is one of them, but more suprisingly is that it's open 9am-12am every single day of the year. Except Friday and Saturday's, where it's open till 1am the next morning.

This revelation could be damaging and really bad for my health, but felt I had to share this treasure with anyone else who lives near Adelaide city so you could drink too much as well.
The reason for it's extreme hours is that it slipped through some licence legislation before the local government realised it had stuffed up and revised it, and there are 2 other pubs (Tee tree Gully and The Arkaba) that can also stay open at these hours of they wish. Only 3 pubs out of over 400 can do these hours, and man do the staff hate it. :)
i think you'll find that a fair few pubs actually sell 6 packs and what not over the counter at random times of night, it certainly costs u more but a man in need generally wont worry so much. the bottlo i used to work at had a pub connected to it and we were allowed to sell "counteries" as we called them till about 2 in the morning, which was great if u were a raging alcho. otherwise there is always metho and coke?!
