Damn, I want to go... if my graphics card doesn't come, I'm stuffed. My computer is so heavy, too...
I'm a bit new to this. Sure I pay the fee and all but what's there for security? Not saying it's going to be full of mobsters but I will be taking an expensive comp there... what if it blows up? Lol.

Dont worry DGA is probably safer than having friends over as far as your computer is concerned.

No LAN event in darwin has had a major theft... Sometimes it's small things like a game or a video card that someone leaves laying around (this might happen one in every 20, so the risk is already incredibly small and usually it's at the very large lans, with randoms walking through)... In the case of these smaller lans, most everybody is trustworthy anyway, if you're worried about theft when you go out, the best bet would be to see me, or one of the other guys running the show and just ask to keep an eye on your system. Don't leave your wallet and phone lying around, unless you can see it.
Remember, the less temptation for theft, the less likely it'll happen.

I'm the manager of the place where we have the venue (plus I've been with DGA for 5 years or so :eek:), and if I was worried about theft, I wouldn't be having the LAN at my work.
As Kensuke said, I have complete peace of mind, because I know that the majority of gamers are basically honest people (except Korny, who has never paid for a DGA in his life ;)).

I was looking around for a DGA information thread but couldn't find one.
Just a few general questions:
- If I suck at a game, you're not all going to go "You suck kid, go home!"
I haven't been playing video games for a while so I'm not too sharp...
- Do I need a router or is the rego for an ethernet cord? Gigabit?
I have gigabit LAN so I'm not worried but I'm a little curious if it's 100Mbps or 1000Mb.
- How much people play? According to DGA45 there was games like Diablo II and Warcraft III ... those only take like 8 players...?
- If I don't have the game, what's the chance of getting someone's CD and using a no-CD crack? Will somebody have internet access to download a crack? Games on sale at the event? EFTPOS? =P
- Monitors provided or do I need to bring one? I use a HDTV so I'm not bringing it, lol. Only LCD screen I've got lying around is some cheapo one that only takes 1024x768 maximum resolution... that's kind of gay.
- Age limits? I'm only sixteen (almost) but don't get me wrong I'm six foot and I'm a gamer.
- (Random) Wii would like to play. =P (Wii? Any DDR fans?)

I suck at COD 4.... And thus i have uninstalled it from my system... I hate geting absolutly owned. THere however are games that require no skill whatsoever like Motorcross Madness whick Un likes to play. You will find somethign that you are good at.

Well I have 3 Gigabit conections in my computer.... But mostly the switches are base 100 full duplex... unless of course you are a lucky **** like Neotheo who plugs into the gigabit backbone.

CSS Cod4 Crysis War3 Flatout 2 were most of the popular games at the lan.

You might be able to orginise someone else who has a better monitor than ya shitty lcd you describe.. I know i have a 19" i am able to bring... But i cant do it for nuthing tho.

yes, a "close" inspection may indeed be warrented. (incidentally, these have been, are, or will be shown on FTV at some stage on the Midnight Hot segment. :p) These are not available to the public (for the most part) though.

Careful with the nfspro lan patch killed it, installed patch was fine, crashed 1 time, ok reinstall game then patch about 5 times this week will not work, only orginal version will boot with no patch, good luck

Many people have put their hands up for pining up posters at schools. A business at cas has said they are more than happy to redistribute leaflets or anything.
And what is more... you NEED more than 2 or 3 weeks notice.... If you think you can run it like so then do it... Dont expect me or my friends to cancel stuff we have organized on 3 weeks notice for a lan.
I am sure it has been said before just needs re saying. (sorry to be the bastard)

I whole hearted agree with you .. hence this one didnt reach the required numbers to make it work.
Pretty much what you have said above is the exact reason this lan isnt going ahead now.
More for us to work on into making the LAN's work with everyone.
