Post 3

LOL... there will be no formatting thank you.... went down that road about 3 weeks ago..

Its an app called Virus heat, apparently it gets installed through a trojan called Zlob.trojan..
i've scanned my registry and found 193 instances of it..

Post 4

If you have legit windows installed try Windows defender...

Otherwise... maybe adaware?

and first google for me...
Spyware Doctor - Best Spyware Removal. Free Trial Download.
but then again, it might be a spyware removal program that is spyware itself! :O

If you find a good one, report back Ratty!

.. save the key to a file, then format the drive? why bother with step 1 at all?

Post 14

oh ofcourse
step 1b. backup all inportant files to your 2.2TB file server.

Post 15

rofl... i figured out what it is.... my pc decided it would be a good idea to upgrade IE to IE7.... but it didn't do the security patches as well... and since i dont use IE i didn't know...

running windows defender now... see how that goes.

Post 16

sounds bs to me. if you've got a trojan its because you double clicked/ran an infected file.

most likely you wanted to watch porn, got asked to download and install a codec and agreed, instant trojan.

Post 17

Spybot S&D + Roguescanfix fixes pretty much everything from personal experience.

Post 18

lol... nope.... there is a trojan in an app called Virus heat that installs itself... which is what happened... i wasn't even at my pc when it started spazzing

besides if i wanted to watch porn i'd stream it.. :P

Post 19

Seriously....

Less then a minute searching on google..

How To Remove Virusheat (removal Instructions)

try to help yourself, before you give up.

Post 20

Don't listen to brain dance. The only true way to get rid of it is to nuke the bastard and format!

Post 21

personally, I agree, format for the all clear for sure, but if you don't want to do that, then you have the instructions there to use.

and pala was right, someone got you the zlob worm, which is distributed via video "codecs" so yeah, if it wasn't you, someone was using your comp.

Post 22

Actualy psyave... brains idea has worked... there all gone all 22 that were left...

thanks brain...

hmmm maybe... my GF had used my machine... and i had gone to a lan recently....

VirusHeat is the latest rogue anti-spyware program infecting your computer through the installation of Zlob Trojans. VirusHeat is installed on your computer when you download and install a Trojan masquerading as a video or audio codec required to view a movie on the Internet.

why do people doubt me? WHY!?!?!

ROFL .... nothing personal its just that u cant trust a sniper...

Actualy such a method would remove all spyware and virus with the added bonus of preventing future infection.

Post 28

sif try and blame other ppl for you shenanigans lol.

I checked my PC, typical random stuff but nothing you got.... Musta been all you Rty :P

Post 29

PFT.... shut up sanders...

Webroot spy sweeper - it's not free but I'm sure you can find a "trial" version.

I had a major infection once (one wrong click to a dodgy site by mistake) and I decided to see what I could do before formatting - it picked up over 500 instances of malware AFTER I had run adaware and spybot S&D. I never ended up formatting (then) - everything was sweet.

It routinely finds arounf 10-15 instances of things like tracking cookies per week - I have it scan every night at 3am.

Hope it helps you.

Post 31

use anti virus so you dont get them in the first place.
proactive beats reactive :)

Post 32

I found the files associated with the trojan. I couldn't delete or rename those files because they were being used by windows and NOD32 can't do shit about them.

Here's what I did:
- Remember where the trojan files files are located
- Ensure that your booting device will not pre-maturely activate in the booting process (ie, chuck it in an external SATA/USB connection).
- Boot clean from another drive designated as C: (You might have to fiddle in the BIOS for this to trick the trojan).
- When all is booted, run a console or file manager and turn orn your "HUNT, castrate OR DESTROY" mode. (I played Metallica while doing it).
- When all is clean, and alright, return power down, and turn everything right back on.
- Run your anti-virus again to confirm your success (some trojan have sleeper components that will actively seek its code in your system... if it couldn't find it, it might try downloading a copy of the necessary code via internet so you should have a firewall. Most trojans infects EXPLORER.EXE because it has super user privileges so if your firewall sais it's talking to strangers unnecessarily, you can suspect it has been possesed.)

Post 33

If you know the files, boot from knoppix, remount drive as read/write, delete files.
