What are your humble opinions on:
A single 9800gx2 vs 2 sli'd 8800GT(S)?
If i was to get a single card - X38 mobo's or nF780i-SLI chipset?

Cheers.

for price point and effectiveness, 8800GTS 512 G92 core

For Crysis
9800gx2

No competition. Get a 9800gx2. The performance of the car is superior to two GT's.

If you're going for a mobo then. Check the compatibility with non SLI mobo's of the GX2 cards... I know the old ones required an NVidia board, but they might not now.
Otherwise stick with an X38 board (if you don't plan SLI in the future). The other option is two 8800gtx's in SLI as well, which are still the performance champs on two by two (though not by much).

Imo, don't get a 780i board..

Talked to a gigabyte rep the other day, and they are saying the chipset is so dodgy, they aren't even going to release a board with it, wait for the 790i.

the real question here is....

3x 9800GTX's in 3 Way SLI
or...
2x 9850GX2's in Quad SLI

lol decisions.... :P

i'll be uh, sampling a gx2 on either tuesday or wednesday, if it can run dual monitor it'll become a permanent resident.

Anything shiny...or blue.

It can run dual monitors but not in SLI mode!

that's more or less what i was afraid of, although nvidia seem to claim it's only a driver tweak needed to fix that.
