Backward compatability

A couple questions god of war 1 & 2 and FFX, are they backward compatable on the PS3. I have heard that the 60GIG is the one that is completely compatable, what about the others.

It's really just those games I'm interested in so if anyone can let me know if those games run on the consoles other than the 60 GIG.

Any help is appreciated.

That is correct only 60gig which aren't made anymore are backward compatable.

Even the 60 gig only has limited backwards compatibility in our region as far as I know. We only got software emulation, whereas the US actually got built in hardware. Somewhere there's a full list for all the backwards compatible games for europe. Unless it's been updated since I looked ages ago, God of War 1&2 work fine and FFX will work with "major issues". But they should all work fine if you have an imported PS3.

does destrega work ross?

Post 5

imported, thats too much trouble, but then i aint gonna pay upward of 3k for a 60 gig to be sure. as long as god of war is good il just wait and get a cheapy and cashconverters ps2

PLAYSTATION3

Site says Destrega will work with "noticeable issues".
BTW I was wrong about Final Fantasy X, at least for my version, the site says it will work fine. Although if you have a copy with SCES 50492 written on the side you may still have the "noticeable issues" thing.

Ok so import mightant be such an issue a mate has a friend in rome where they are imported from US fingers crossed

Post 8

if i were you, i'd just go out and grab a ps2, saves you alot of hassle

Post 9

thatd be fine but there other games on the ps3 also, its a little anal but i dont want a multiple consol clutter

Post 10

just stack the ps3 on top of the ps2

works for me :D

Post 11

didnt i say i was anal about it, if not

im anal about it

Post 12

there really is not other solution then, its either grab a 60gb and risk games not working with "backward compability" or grab a ps2 (SLIM), tuck it nicely somewhere and have 100% working titles. choice is yours really.

but in MHO i'd rather have the 2nd console to save hassle with non 100% working titles on ps3 =/

then again, i did start off with ps2 then ps3

and if cluttering consoles is a problem for you, why dont you try having multi output recievers? so you can just flick to the 1 channel instead of alternating between av1 and av2 chans?.

Atm i got approx 7 different consoles plugged into 2 tvs and thye look nice and dandy :) cept for the thrashed n64

Meh every ps2 game I have tried on my ps3 works. Although didn't play to many. Theres always a chance that update the backwards compatibility at some date on the PS3.
