Only about a year old. Has barely been used in that time. Only selling because I've decided to go the way of the HTPC and already have a larger lcd in the lounge doing the job.

This is not the cheaper 24" model that you see in the dell catalogues. This was the model priced at $999 and has been replaced by the 2408.

I had the ps3 running through this for a while and blu ray at 1080p looked awesome!

Start the bidding at $550.

Reason for sale is I'm considering either a set of Z5500's for my HTPC or nice shiny new case with an LCD :)

btw monitor revision is A00

Post 2

Can you post some pics of it please?

Post 3

I'll do my best to get some but it's just your stock standard 2407WFP. I may be attending the next DGA so you can view it there too if you like.

Post 4

I assume no pixal problems. Do you have the waranty info for the monitor

Post 5

No warranty info sorry and no pixel problems at all.

Post 6

OK since there is no intereast. I know your reserve is high I going to off $400

Post 7

Have had interest so I won't be able to let it go at that price. Thanks for the offer though.

To make things a little easier for people I may accept a trade with cash. Just let me know what you've got :)

Post 8

you can get it new for 699 now so i doubt anyones gonna pay as much as you want for one thats had a years use and has no warranty.....

Post 9

First of all it hasn't had a years use. I have owned it for almost a year and it has probably only been used for about 3-4 months as I have been without an actual pc for a long while.

Also, I think you have your model numbers mixed up. If you had read the first post you would have noticed I mentioned this is not the cheaper model you see going for around 600. This is infact the one that goes for 999. Otherwise could you please provide a link to where I can get this model monitor for 699.

Btw I will have a look for the warranty papers as I'm sure it's got plenty left I have just misplaced the receipt at my old place :)

Post 10

Back in January Dell was selling this exact model, the UltraSharp 24in 2407 for $799 with 3yrs warranty.

So it would be safe to say that if dell was getting rid of these now it would be around $699 or less.

As it is a year old and the warranty cant be proven, I would have started at around $350. So $400 is still very generous.

Remember these are computer parts, they depreciate quicker then most things and Dell even recognise this.

Post 11

The existing 24inch entry level is 599$, the higher model is still $999.

Post 12

Goodluck getting it for that price that is if they ever have those specials again :) also I still think my price is fair. Will post how much warranty over the weekend.

Post 13

Well thanks anyway.

Ill wait for one to appear on their outlet site.

Always cheaper then the online store.

Eg.
Brand new 24in E248WFP entry for $449 - online = $549
Brand new 30in 3008WFP for "999 - online = $2299

Those prices arent specials, its their every day online retail price.

Sorry you've misunderstood me because my post was in reply to Raker. I did not notice your post till after I had replied :)

So yeah $599 is the current price for the entry level and $999 for the better model, which is the same as my one.

Even at your guesstimated figure of $699 brand new my price is still cheaper, and yes mine now has warranty :D Basically I'm just seeing if anyone wants to save a few dollars and have the convenience of getting it now locally. If you aren't interested that's cool.

Post 16

OK the reason I offered $400
Is I was able to find the exact model you offered new for $699 delivered.

2nd I lose two major advantages over buying new.
1)Full waranty (you have started you don't have the waranty info to even claim the remaining year)
2)A tax invoice that I can use to offet tax(a non insignificant amount).
If you get what you want for it goodluck my offer of $400 still stands.

Post 17

Definately won't let it go for that much at this stage. If you ever get one for $400 I'd be very suprised and would probably get 2 myself :)

If I don't get what I'm asking for it I'll just keep it as it will probably just end up being my ps3 monitor again for games n bluray.

Post 18

actually it was dropped to 599 usa when they were getting rid of the last of there stock of that model number monitor. To claim that cause the new iteration of your monitor is 999 so yours is worth 999 is like saying a ps3 is xxx so a ps2 is worth xxx admittedly not to the same level but the point remains the same, your bein greedy.

Post 19

and nobody is forcing you to bid.

Post 20

well knowing how angry an individual you are you probably think anyone dumb enough not to research deserves to pay an unfair price paladin but some of us dont like to let stuff like that happen on a community forum....

Post 21

paladin, what would you bid if you were interested?

Please be honest cause we know what your like. Only the best for the pala.

Or on the flip side, if you were in the same situation as Jm3 and wanted to sell it to us.

What would you expect is reasonable to open the bidding?

Personally I wouldnt expect about half the best price on the net and if the bidding brings it up then better for me.

Anyway, your thoughts are requested

Post 22

comparing a 2407 and a 2408 is not like comparing a ps2 and a ps3, and if you think it is you are a complete twat. end of story.

Seriously even at your made up price of $599 mine is still cheaper so why do you care?

Post 23

It's simple people, throw in a bid. If Jm3 has a figure in mind then he won't sell it if it's lower, however it might be considered. The only person losing here is himself due to a potential no sale.

Post 24

all we are saying is that the price he is asking is too high as a starting bid.

I am all for selling secondhand goods, but it is just that, its secondhand.

The problem with selling so long after the original purchase is that it is available new and cheaper now.

This all has to be taken into consideration.

It might be fine asking for a price close to what you can get it new for, just the problem is dont expect to get that with informed buyers who know the market, like GU.

if you can get that price then you have done well, but as a buyer like myself and morge for instance, we will be trying to get it as low as we can as to find the best bargain and value for our $.

We all have figures in mind when we buy things, and this is no different. Morges is $400, mine was $350 and DoWhat's, well I dont really know if he is interested or not, or just here to give Jm3 a hard time :P

Anyway, good luck with the sale. Its always hard to sell computer gear secondhand, depreciates so quickly as new versions get released so often.

Post 25

Can't wait to see what kind of a price you guys do on your items :)

But yeah $550 is basically a reserve price, anything lower would need to be considered and thought about..

I urge people to offer cash + items because I am a bit of a collecter. Can't help myself when it comes to tech stuff.

Post 26

What items are you looking for?

Post 27

Seriously if I saw another 24" dell at this price I'd probably be tempted to buy it and go for a dual screen setup, no joke!

Funny how this turned from a me wanting to sell to a possible wanting to buy another :D

Quote from RakeR;345118:

Anything pc related I guess from full systems to parts or even just hdds. Phones, ipods etc

I was also looking at getting a set of Z5500's in the near future ;)

Post 28

Life takes you places you dont expect sometimes :)

And that is why Im looking as I have one of the original 24in Dell and it about 2 years old now

Post 29

Shall I make an offer on the original :P nah if I was to go dual monitors they'd need to be identical in appearance (base etc).

Post 30

Thats my delemma also, but sometimes you say what the heck if the price is too good to be true

Post 31

Now I see why you wanted this one. Consider selling yours? :) Make me an offer via pm. I really shouldn't even ask as pay day is tomorrow and I'll be tempted as hell.

Post 32

Then Ill get the 3008 instead then

shrug, if someone is happy to pay a price for something, and someone is happy to let it go for that price, everyone wins. it doesn't matter if it's fair or not, as the two parties involved are happy.

Post 35

$500 this week only. I have my eye on something else this week hence I will go down to $500.

Post 36

Im interested in taking it of you're hands for $500.

Post 37

You have a PM.

Post 38

SOLD :(

Post 39

These come with 3 year warranty and you wouldn't need the receipt.. just ring Dell and quote the serial number on the back of the monitor.
