Easily the best game on the PS3, Probably one of the best for the year. The graphics have so much atmosphere, that with great voice acting, animation, story, characters, gameplay, sounds/music, in game and often interactive cinematics just make this game so bloody good.
I haven't even played the previous ones. Yet to try Metal Gear Online which came with it, but I did play the beta which was a lot of fun. So far I'm only at the start of act two just after you speak to drebin again and unlike most games I actually give a crap about the characters already.

This being my first mgs game, when I started I was more used to shooting, which is what I have ended up doing with a bit a sneaking thrown in. Better yet the shooting is much more cinematic if you go into 1st person view then other games.
The enemies use cover very well and are often hidden which just goes so well for the gameplay. Damn snipers can sometimes be nothing more then a small amount of black or green amongst rooftops or trees.

just wait till when you start taking on geckos :) then fun will ensure .. ergh.
(geckos are those 2 legged machines)

Their score of the story was kinda low though.
Post 15
Even most movies fail to pull off a storyline as well as MGS4 has.
Post 16
Ohh my, I thought the section in act 2 where you shoot from the apc thing was one of the best vehicle sequences in and games then the one in act 3 goes and out does it :0
Post 17
Wait until the end of Act 4.
Post 18
Is that seriously how many discs there are to that game on Ps3? And how many hours is 1 disc? Cause... OMFG!
Post 19
There is 1 disk for the ps3 version, that's a mock up of how many there would be if it came out on 360 :P
Post 20
what an ending!
Post 21
So I get to the end and there's an oldschool playable MGS level.
That isn't required to be completed to get to the actual ending is it?

If it's the beginning of act 4 I think it was just a bonus thing Kojima put in the game, Things like this everywhere, Photos of j-idols and stuff in random places of the game. If you leave the game at the start menu without pressing start for a while it shows some random movie.
I also swear I saw that chick crack 1 egg and two yolks came out :0

Me to :(, apparently this game sold over 1.3 million copies day 1 :o it easily deserves it though.
Post 29
finished the games 2 days ago, took 19 hours; now playing on hard.
what ranks did you boys get? I got hawk if i recall
Post 30
Yeah i fired it back up today to **** around with the Camera (still havent found it) and I realised i hadn't actually finished the game.
I got to the oldskool MGS level (with the old graphics) and figured that the last cut-scene was the ending and that the minigame was just a bonus thing.
Then i finished the level and it went into the next Act :/
I left it sitting there for 2 days thinking I'd finished the whole game.
Goddamnit.

Whoa. :o Big nub up there.
Post 32
Lol doesn't it automatically start loading up the act as soon as you get out of the mgs1 part :P
Post 33
Yeah it does, but I didn't bother finishing the mgs1 bit the first time, caus i figured it was just a bonus game.
Post 34
What did you feel when you thought that was the end lol?
Post 35
I wonder if I've got the MGS2 theme on my ingame ipod yet.

Thought it was a bit short and a bit of a cliff-hanger ending :p
Post 37
Have you finished the game and got through all of the ending yet?
Post 38
Not yet.
Up to Crying Wolf and got flogged. Havent played it in a little while, might finish it tonight.
Post 39
Unless you're going for zero kills, just load up the gren launcher of your flavour and go to town.
Post 40
are u serious?! damn, games nowadays dont really finish until you see the rolling credits.... and i'd sit there till after the credits too if i were you, save once finished and restart with all items (after u meet the MK2)
Post 41
Does anyone know where the camera is. Will replay it soonish, first game i actually want to replay in ages.
Edit- Ohh yeah all the sequences and game play around the ending fking rocked.
Post 42

I tried finding it by loading the Mission Briefings, but I can't work out which one it is, Mission Briefing END or the end of hte last act.
Post 46
Digital Camera - In the Nomad vehicle during the mission intermission; you can unlock a special photo by picking up this item in stage 4 instead of earlier
Post 47
Just read this on CAD.Quote:
I can imagine some frat dude walking into a GameStop and picking this game up because of the great scores, thinking it's a Halo or GTA, only to have his brain leak out his nose when he tries to comprehend what's going on during the million hours of cutscenes.

:P A game that makes you actually think a little with its story is nice, I haven't played the originals and didn't find it difficult at all to follow.
Post 49
Me either
Post 50
Can anyone explain how to beat Crying Wolf?
I try to snipe her when she opens her shell, it does no damage.
I try to nuke her with RPG's, it does no damage.
Am I missing something here :/
Post 51
Tranq/kill the minions, grab your grenade launcher and chase her down.
Post 52
Sniping her seemed to work for me :0
Post 53
when u start the battle with crying wolf, immediately head to the right and camp under the truck. i assume that you have a few batteries in your solid eye, so switch it to thermal mode and camp there until you see her run on the far distance, make sure you have a good sniper rifle equipped she will open her shell giving you the chance to snipe her head twice. its annoying, but it works.
also during the times when she is not around, i like to kill her minions :), if you want to tranq them and theyre too far away, equip solid eye and zoom onto the frog you want to kill, hold manual aim to equip your gun, then deactive solid eye zoom, and shoot, its a cheap way to snipe using pistols and such. good luck!
Post 54
i love this game, another breakthrough from snake and PS3, graphics really great and the effects way WOW lol :D
Post 55
to let u know how great this game is, its the first ps3 games to use all 50gb dual layer blu-ray and compressed too ><
Post 56

i tend to agree. all i needed was to watch milenko play it for a while. play the first hour, i mean, play for 10 minutes and watch an hour long cutscene.
Post 65
His review is sooo spot on. But this is my first real MGS4 experience and I'm still really enjoying it, despite the clunky combat controls, lack of need for sneaking, and excessively long cut scenes that are enough to put you to sleep.
Post 66
man
first people complained in the previous games that you HAD to sneak to get anywhere.
now you're given the choice of either sneaking or combat (and in the higher difficulties, learning to sneak is a matter of life or death) and people complain.
it goes to show how in game design, you can never ever please the customer
Post 67
I thought the in game cinematic were interesting :/, better then just about any other game cinematic before it. Granted some could have been done as gameplay.
Post 68
good luck on act 3 motorcycle scene
MUHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAA
Post 69
just dont shoot ;), and die.
