their featured job advert yesterday was for a level designer specialising in outdoor levels - and they referred to themselves as 'blizzard, creator of diablo 1 & 2'. not 'creator of WoW'
The second link in the first post, and the first post itself refer to 1 rune. My eyes are pretty bad, but I count 3. No?
I'd love to be surprised by Blizzard and hear the news that Diablo 3 will release in the coming months on this year. I know if anything, that even if they kept the whole thing underground for this long (and it was rumored early as... say 1/4 of last year. Someone correct me), the release date won't be till earliest mid next year; but more likely longer.
they've already told everyone years ago they were going to make a diablo 3, there were rumours, and they were answered by an ex-blizzard employee who claimed that it was true.
i definately remember reading about it at least 2 years ago.
probably just new UI for their website to gear up for the big marketing push for starcraft2 - they'd be silly to start going on about Diablo3 before SC2 is released - doesnt mean D3 ISNT in production as we speak, but I doubt the site will reflect that for some time.
i didnt say it hadnt been announced (that was already mentioned earlier in this thread), just that i doubt they'll make a big song and dance about it on their site prior to SC2 launch
Meh I hope they use a new engine and not the war 3 one, Diablo looked great for its time, would really benefit from having a highly detailed atmosphere.
Apparently there are images that can been seen from getting links out of the source, First there was 2 now there's 3 out of 4, and when put together they form this(from kotaku). Hydra maybe?
the same deal as starcraft 2 last year. attention whores :P
Quote: Other evidence pointing towards a Diablo III announcement includes the Diablo3.com domain, now empty after previously directing to a Diablo community website. The domain was acquired by Blizzard last month.
Hmm doesn't look like its pushing anything graphics wise (characters and npc's look really blocky) Also looks like its got a slight cartoon look that the others didn't have :(, still looks fun though.
Whats OCD? Just watched the gameplay vid on their site looks like its going to be a lot of fun (the in game cinematic looked shit though compared to what games do these days).
whooo im excited.. going to take leave for this game... so far it looks like they havent let down there fans.. its not a mmo its got the classic moves (OMFG Whirlwind) and a new caractor that sounds a lot like a necromancer. either way they still say this game is over 6 months away.. i cant wait :D
how about you take some leave, eat a dictionary, learn the difference between 'their' and 'there' and "they're", and learn to ****en spell at the same time.
Will be interesting to see how the online goes in it. Pay to play, oh god I hope not :(. I'll subscribe to something like WoW, well i would if i didn't think it ruined lives, but i don't think we should pay to have the online play bug proof and hack proof, cos we never have before.
Diablo 3 better have good music to it like all the other Diablos, I swear to god. But then again, Blizzard delivers when it comes to good music in games :D
zZzz... sorry, but I don't get any kicks out of pointing and clicking thousands of AI creatures for hours on end. Looks as pointless and monotonous as Diablo 2.
Diablo is much more than a point click. I expect nothing but great things from Blizzard and from the trailers and game footage I would say they made another hit.
Quote Slashdot | Blizzard Answers Your Questions, From Blizzcon Slashdot: Can you tell us about the multiplayer aspect of the game, in terms of Battle.net and the possibility of LAN play?
Blizzard: We're not supporting LAN play. We're basically focusing on making the best multiplayer experience we can, and that's all through Battle.net. There are tons of features we're going to be supporting both for cooperative play and competitive play. One of the things we can talk about with the new Battle.net is security. Fixing some of the problems we had with the earlier Diablos ? item duping, cheating, and griefing ? we're going to be addressing all of those things with the new Battle.net, as well as some pretty awesome competitive play ideas we're working with right now. So that's going to be the biggest advance, especially for previous Diablo players, to see all these we're planning. It going to be really awesome.
Seriously, is internet connectivity really an issue in this day and age? I just cant see a bunch of people dragging computers together for a LAN but having no access to the internet.
Maybe at bigger LAN parties but even then it wouldn't be overly hard to secure some sort of connection with enough bandwidth for online play.
Or just make a custom server and make like Private WoW servers.
The point is that you have to be connected to the battlenet server. It stops you from using hacks / bugs / older versions / increased experiance and the likes. It is sounding much more like a pay once wow for 8 players....
**** that does suck though...we will be able to play over lan with some ****ing around, but the fact that they cant just include it with the game is ****ing sad. for us we will be playing with 300-400 pings and it will be shit if it lags when we could have just played lan and had fun with no ping :P
It will be fun to see where pvpgn goes with bnet 2 coming with starcraft 2 and D3. Someone will do something but in reality it wont be available on day 1.
what heretic said. also - yes internet connections ARE still an issue. ESPECIALLY when you're beholden to a single company's servers for your play with friends - maintenance is not a downtime you have to worry about on LANs generally.
I expect they'll setup battlenet servers in australia, so probably maint times will be adjusted to match, BUT there will still be times you want to play during that period. ****ing annoying. there is zero reason NOT to allow LAN play. I've got no problem with battlenet for online play, but if my friends are using hacks etc in LAN play - either we've agreed to it or we'll sort the ****er out ourselves.
i highly doubt battle.net traffic will ALL be routed through the server. i suspect you'll retrieve initial character information from the server, but all actual game play will be peer to peer between the playing clients.
*shrug* still a tarded requirement if you want to pay a LAN game.
saying that you have to have an internet connection to play an offline game is tantamount to backing Games For Windows Live. (yeah yeah i know, Bnet will NEVER be that bad)
yeah that is how battle.net works, peer to peer, which is why you could get d/c'd from Battle.net but not the game. but nevertheless, they're still dicks for not doing it :P
