My Sister's Widescreen decided to play funny colours last week, but not sure exactly how or why it does this, so does anyone know?

I attached a picture without the flash, so might be a bit dark, but you can see the monitor better.

Sometimes when i switch it off and on again, i can view my desktop but its very pale, and its laggy.

Thanks,

Daven

its so true, it becomes 3d

on a technical note it sounds like a loose cable from the panel to the controller board or the controller board itself.

Post 5

Is it possible to fix it myself or is it a major thing? Its a Polyview V398, so i doubt i'll still have warranty on it.

I was going to suggest the same thing as Knight. Its easy enough to do, keeping track of what screws went where is about the hardest part of the whole job, I just had a similar problem on a Laptop screen recently.

Post 7

o very easy to do there is only 3 components to a standard LCD screen (power board, controller board and the panel itself)
trying to find replacement boards or cables will be another hurdle in itself thought.
but pulling it apart to check that its just not loose or dirty shouldn't be a drama.

try another monitor on the pc if all works try new cable between pc and monitor if that doesnt work then go see elmar at em electronics :) or buy new monitor

Well here's the insides of the monitor. not experienced to know what stuff is what so yeha...

well didn't look like anything was wrong, so will put it back together tonight and see how it goes, i'll try another dvi cable as well but don't think that was the problem and neither the power as well.

Thanks for the help guys.

And don't mind the two pin cables, i think my dad pulled them out while taking the back cover off.

wow sight and sound are selling 19 inch ACER monitors for $200

its acer but all acer screens are made in the same factory as other brands :)

the green board is the controler. make sure all the cables are seated correctly, especially the 1 at the bottom and 2 at the top, wouldnt hurt to take them out and run any shit of them.

also why is there a sad face on one of the chips on the controller board :(

Post 12

It's sad caus its broken :(

Post 13

Poor control chip, if only we had more time ;_;

Post 14

I have no idea about that sad face, i didn't even realise til you pointed it out..hahaa
