This is a bit of a selfish post, nothing to do with gaming but today is a very sad day in Adelaide.
KG Cunnigham today broadcast his last weekday sports evening show. KG is an Adelaide legend/Icon (gay icon?) even if he never admits it himself. He has been the voice of sports talkback radio in Adelaide for near on 40 years. The management decided some months ago that Ken at 71 was too old to carry on and did not choose to renew his contract.
I moved to Adelaide/Australia from Ireland in 2001 and soon became a fan of the show. Its interviews, freedom to call in and have a say/go and the differing points of view and banter between the hosts Grame Cornes and KG was a joy. I would sometimes drive home slower and take a different route if needed so I could listen to the end of an interview or segment before arriving home telling the wife I was delayed at work.
Everyones career has to end at some point but I wish it was Ken bowing out not this. Anyway for what its worth, Ken dont look back unless its with favour and I'll tune in on saturday mornings to the one and only show management saw fit to leave you with. God help the poor bugger who takes your seat next year becuase they have a huge task if they want to achieve 10% of what you have.
Goto FIVEaa :: home to listen to KG's last ever Sportsshow and in particular Mahatmacotes last ever link with the boys.
Cheers KG.....res
