Wow.. now is this a bluff to get further concessions from FIA? will they still be discussing options over the weekend?
This has a long way to go yet.... Bernie is not going to let this happen, unless of course FOTA give him the media rights to the series..... who else can put on the show?
It's already gone backwards with engine rev cuts and reduced aero.
It seems nearly every race the laptimes will be a few seconds slower than the previous year.
I'm not seeing the increased overtaking envisioned. I'm just seeing cars struggling for back end grip and hitting rev limiters before any reasonable overtaking move can be attempted.
Did you even watch the last race? Times being set were faster than last years.
At the start of the season there was indeed more overtaking, but the cars have already moved ahead and made the best of the restrictions - they're now fasting than anticipated, despite the efforts to slow them down.
As for grip - the Brawn's and Redbull's have had absolutely outstanding traction all season. BMW and Toyota also having great rides, from a hardware perspective, most races.

I also wouldn't knock the drivers or their skills. Max Wilson when he left (was dropped from F1) came over and raced in the V8s. Marcose Ambrose who dominated the series for three years is now racing in the highest grade of Nascar and doing very well too.
They factually are highly modified production models. And they're not highly modified coupes or sports cars, they're highly modified sedans. There is no argument here - that's the reality. VE Commodore's or FG Falcon's, to be precise.
To argue that raises the question about how much you actually know about it. :P
Even NASCAR are tailor made vehicles. Unfortunately NASCAR is even shitter. Circle tracks, and all about the crashes - just like ice hockey is about the fights. If you remove those key elements from either of those sports, the spectator base would be instantly halved, if not more.
One thing I didn't understand about Clipsal was why they had support catagories that would lap faster than the V8's such as the Porche's and Formula 3's, I wish the bogans didn't make the V8's so popular.

The 'official Grand Prix' was never in doubt. Formula 1 would still be 'Formula 1' if the split happened.
If Melbourne decided it didn't want to host the changed 'Formula 1', then I doubt Formula 1 would care - the Formula 1 has already told Melbourne to become a night race or be removed from the calendar. Dusk was the compromise, but Melbourne will still lose the GP after its next agreement period if it at that stage it doesn't go under lights.
The peace deal between FIA and teams' association really has nothing to do with the Melbourne GP specifically, no more than any other race on the calendar. Plus the peace agreement is old news, now.
... and that's why I don't read the ABC for F1 news. :P
As soon as the split wasn't on the cards Melbourne wasn't in any danger of losing the Australian GP. Which is a shame as it was the perfect excuse to get out of a deal in which they loose $45m a year in hosting it.
As rec says if they do not invest in a night race for the next agreement, a night race in and around homebush in NSW is already being looked at.
