Wow, I'm not even an F1 nut...it's legendary Ferrari man Michael Schumacher.
Like the rest of the internet, I still think this is a hoax though.

Of course it wasn't actually Schumacher... they couldn't afford him. Not even close.
In reality, 'The Stig' has probably been many different 'professional' drivers.

Schumacher doesn't do anything just for fun. The interview with Schumacher on Top Gear is the only time I've seen him remove the stick from his arse in the better part of my entire lifetime. :P

Schumacher was doing it for the Bacardi clip they promised to play.

That said, a few months ago, Schuy was photographed taking off his 'stig' helmet getting out of a different car.
I believe he's been the stig a few times if not he's the normal stig most of the time...

While I doubt he's THE Stig, I don't doubt he's been A Stig at least once or twice.

He was only the stig for that episode.
1, Ferrari would only let them have the VXX if Schumacher drove it
2, the controversy around that Touring car driver being the stig ment they wanted to create some sort of hoax
3, as rec said, Schumacher is a smug showboat, and he wants his name known, he would never do things behind closed doors it would cost more than the production of the show itself.
It was most definately a ruse, but **** it was an awesome episode. Cant wait for the next one they might answer some of the million questions i bet they are recieving about this.
I'm with wortel too, Clarkeson gave him a good cooking :D
I'm pretty sure the BBC have officially stated they will never talk about or show the stigs true identity as well.
