Select Optus stores are doing a midnight launch tonight, while select Vodafone stores are opening early tomorrow.
I'm heading down to Voda at 8am (when my store opens) to grab mine.
Anyone else on the launch bandwagon?

lol from nay-sayer to complete bloody opening-day fanboi =)
Nope. I have a 3G... and the only 'feature' I want is the directional GPS (which the 3G hardware will support if it's hacked). Everything else I couldn't give a rats ass over.
I'm not particularly interested in any of the new 'features' either... just the HSDPA data speed and additional CPU grunt. Those combined will mean using the internet on it (eg. using everything on the phone) won't ever be painful (hopefully).
If I had to talk actual feature interest, I guess the VGA 30fps recording and video geo-tagging would be it.
My Touch Diamond is about to come out of its warranty period, so after I get back from Ireland I'm looking forward to installing new ROM's and seeing what I can do with Windows Mobile 6.5
I thought about it but voted against it as optus wants me to pay $715 to cancel the current contract and start another 24 month contract. Will try to find a dodgy way to get optus to lower the fee :). Till then ill just wait.

You know what pisses me off about this? We will only ever be able to run hacked ROMs with Windows Mobile 6.5. MS have indicated they will NEVER be supporting old hardware with this release... only new stuff. In other words if you have our generation of phone and want 6.5, you have to do it illegally. You cannot get it any other way.
Sucks. Big time.
still fail to see the great new features of the new iphone
still seems alot like the old one..

The speed difference is night and day. It's just so, so much better to use. The camera is actually now good... and the video recording, encoding to send and processing YouTube is simply impressive.

You're still gay though.

rofl.
still cant see the point ? :S
Yeah, upgrading from a Pentium 4 to Core i7 also pointless. I don't know why we ever upgrade hardware, tbh. I'd still be happy with my Pentium MMX to be honest.
8086 ftw
i played with my brothers iphone 3g s it felt like i was using the old one.
Well then it's broken. Have him return it.
pentium4 to i7 is hardly the same thing.
bit of an exaggeration dont ya think?
this is just a small processor speed upgrade, most of the speed difference is in the firmware update.
its not like they redid the entire architecture of the cpu, skipped an entire generation and added more cores now is it?
Yes it's an exaggeration, clearly. I was just trying to illustrate a point.
I was using 3.0 on my 3G, and now I'm using 3.0 on my 3GS. Huge difference.
It's the hardware, not the software that has boosted the speed so dramatically.
