Still haven't pre-ordered Aion, but it's pretty much assured.
Would anyone here be interested doing the GU thing for it? Obviously all non-GU friends/gamer-buddies could jump in, wouldn't want to be making it exclusive or anything.
More importantly, if there is interest; does anyone here feel enthusiastic/confident enough to oversee the guild?

Ok so there's some interest. Who's running it? I'm not even an RPG player - otherwise I'd consider it. But I know sfa about this very geeky arm of online gaming. ;)
In the early stages of the game, a small guild is beneficial.
Toward the upper end of levels and abyss objectives, you will want to be part of a Legion.
I don't mind leading a small guild for the early days; but there aint much point worrying about it too much for another 2 months :)

I will probably be keen, playing the chinese beta at the moment and really enjoying it.
i thought that it was actually released in korea and china? and that they spend a few months changing aspects of the game so its not so much of a grind, because lazy americans dont like it :P
I remember reading somewhere that it's been live in Korea for a squige under a year.
and yeah - the American servers are being play/load tested as well as looking for engrish mistakes and finding bugs with their 'e-z-mode' adaptations.
Nah not officially released as far as I know, they still have lvl capped at 45. So once they reach sept all goes back to zero.

The US release is also meant to have the current Korean version (1.5) at release which adds a heap of stuff.

I've never played a pay to play game before. How much are you usually up for each month? It might be about time I tried one.

Do you only pey for the months you actually play, or do you have to pay every month from here to eternity to keep an account active?
i've never had an account deleted in an online game. you cancel your sub. your account stays dormant. waiting for you.
pay for every month you want to be able to log in and play, if the account goes inactive they dont delete it.
ncsoft forces you to enter your credit card details when you buy any of their monthly payment MMOs, but they wont touch it until payment is actually due. and cancellation is easy and instant.
Alot of people with Credit cards (and who dont want recurring subscriptions); buy one month, then instantly cancel the sub.
It gives you a months play and you have the option of renewing it at the end of said month. It's an especially good tactic if you're forgetful or don't like using game-cards.
The forcing of the credit card is to try hinder gold spammers as much as possible.

Yeah i'm definitely up for a bit of morpg. I've grouped with neotheo before on wow so shouldnt be too hard to do it again. Ordering a copy from the website in a couple of days (waiting for paypal authorization).
Aion
Hiya guys, good to see some long term faces still playing. we been playing Aion betas and some of the guild from eq2 Sabaki been at it- we have a guild already set up, seems like you really need groupage/Guild etc but so far everyone seems happy. who knows after the novelty wears off. not leaving eq2 but do look forward to having a wrestle with Aion.
if you round the traps looking forward to seeing you. Update today for some of the Westernization of the game.

Yeah, yesterday I made the Aion GU group a public one. If you apply for the group, one of the group leaders (eg. Milenko) can approve your request. Then you'll have access to the forum.
Saves me needing to manually add access.

You gotta apply for it through the user cp link up the top ratty.
Then click on 'Group Memberships' and apply for it there.

The Open (closed) Beta is pretty unplayable at the moment.
Apparently there are some routing issues in teh states that is affecting international and domestic traffic.
must be because they put the ****ing servers on the WRONG COAST
ye makes me feel sorry for squishy characters.. i went a warr and i kept lagging to death, stuff having no defence at all and lagging.
lag was fine after i got up at 10am

nah mate, all on gigabit switch and 1500\256 connection. Both PC's are very high spec too.
