game doesnt really suit PvE focused players from the reviews so far - I'm going Templar and will play whatever aspect of the game is going when i login ;P
Quote from rec;368145: Tank. Whatever the class is that I chop shit.
RAWR.
If I'm PVE I really only enjoy group stuff with some effort to role play (no "LOLZ YOU T3H WINN4R!!! type shit). Otherwise PVP.
If the tank class is anything like those in L2 (I hear it is) it will be kinda useless in pvp.
In L2 you would simply ignore the tank classes, kill all the healing/damage classes then kill the tank class :P
Even though the game is RVR you can play it for the pve. It has story quests with cinematic's and I think you can go to max level in pve based zones. Also has extensive crafting and economy system. But pvp ftw :)
PvE? Sweet, i must admit i wasnt looking forward to pvp as much as pve, partly because i think im scarred for life after playing fail alliance pvp for so long. But now we are asmodians we shouldnt have that problem. Evil = all the good pvpers, imo.
The MOST fun however, was having Heretic heal me (rogue) while I blitzed through people. So then they would run over to him, so he would bubble, then they'd run back to me, then back to him, then they all died.
I reckon I will be a Ranger. I liked ranged weapons and also still has OK hand to hand. I am also patient so crafting arrows and making money for trap ingredients shouldn't be an issue. btw, I have limited knowledge of this so I may be wrong with some of my ideas :)
So another MMO.. killing me. Will see how things are closer to release ;) Will probably spec something pure DPS, most likely a ranger/sorcerer type. Casual, but then you know me :\
My wife saw my son playing and had a go. Now we all have a copy of the game. The family that plays together, gets addicted and thrown into debt together :S My wife is going to be a Ranger also and Urit is going to be a cleric.

mmo addiction is one of the best thing you can do to save money. its an addiction that costs "5 a month and thats all you spend money on :D
Having trouble deciding between a Sorc and an Assassin, big time :/
Originally was going to play a Sorc. Then decided on an Assassin. But now im leaning back toward the Sorc purely for their huge pewpew capability. Grrrr.
i'm in, already bought it. will play the buggery out of it til the 37 days free ends or my wife shoots me - whichever comes first ;) if i get over my QQ about the travel powers and flight feather clipping i'll sub. hard sell though considering how much i'm enjoying champions, but will know better on release :)
shame the game has no ****ing side-kicking (temporary increase in your level to that of one of your team mates) capacity though :/ is Cryptic seriously the only company that can see the benefit of that feature? inclusion of it would go a long way to wiping my hatred of the travel power shite.
I can see the use in that. Was trying to do the elite quests in altgard, it was acceptable but i took to much dmg as the tank, lvl up would have given hp and def bonuses, so yes i can see that being useful. But how would you limit it? 30min duration? 1min? 2hr cooldown? I think the problem with it would be that no-one would be happy with its limit.
what they do in city of heroes is one player can sidekick a lower level player up to the higher level -1. then play on from there. the sidekick fails if you get too far from your mentor or they (or you) leave the team or either of you voluntarily breaks the sidekick.
Champions allows it across the entire party (one player sets themselves as the mentor and everyone else sidekicks up or down to their level). but i dont know what limitations there are on that one as i havent been on a team with a wide level difference yet.
the big point of it is that you can *always* team with your friends (except in zones that require a certain level).
Well in these heavy pvp games, one level above level 25 makes a massive difference in abilities, damage, mitigation etc. and having that feature would make the game almost too easy. even if they made it pve only (In instances for example) they would have to make the dungeon harder, which would mean groups of even a few levels lower wouldn't be able to do it. and most of the highest level stuff and end game will be level 50. which is static so it wouldn't matter anyway.
But in this game, dinging a level really makes a different apparently (from what i've been told anyway) so it feels more of an achievement.
well the instant scaling of abilities every time you level is sure nice. its easily the difference between a 50/50 fight mob and beating it every time.
I'm quite sure I'll go Chanter, so far then it looks like Heretic and myself will be taking that up. SM is apparently the least popular class over in asia/korea due to pets not being able to fly and dots not stacking between number of SM players in group.
Clerics and templars look popular between our current player list which is good, I think eiely's going to go gladiator.
If need be I might go sorc, simply because it looks like they can cut massive damage into group pvp.
