Anyone on GU have experience with the reliability of both class licensed and licensed microwave links in wet season rain. All I could find was some research papers that don't deal with user experience.
\me waiting for boss to suggest putting in our own fiber.
We've just upgraded to digital links, so i'll let you know in 6 months after we've tried it in the rain.
Need to upgrade the link between our two sites very soon and it looks like this is the only way we are going to get any sort of decent bandwidth in darwin.
i have used 300mbit unlicenced range links over 5KM. Worked fine in the wet season.

Been looking at a 25Mbs from wave1. We are about 4km point to point for the two sites so sounds promising for wet season reliability. Coming in a lot cheeper than I was expecting also.
is it 25mbit full duplex or half duplex?
Waiting for the full specs ATM but I did ask for estimates on full duplex links.
if you have direct LOS your ok.
if there is trees and shit in the way when it rains the signals reflect off them more.
I think Telstra runs the microwave links used by the NTG and others. As I understand it rain is OK if there's no obstacles.
PS. Large groups of bats flying through count as obstacles. Unfortunately there's no TCP E_ACID_CRAP_BOMBERS packet.
