Aion's Open Beta, Pre-Select and Headstart Programs August 27, 2009 8:56 AM
Within the next four weeks, we will treat European and North American gamers to two opportunities to jump into the world of Aion and explore Atreia as Asmodian or Elyos characters ahead of its release in Europe on 25th September and North America 22th September. Aion's Open Beta Test featuring version 1.5 will take place 6-13th September and will include numerous Western enhancements, including improvements to Aion's innovative character customization with a host of Western styles, as well as new zones, instances, skills, quests and continued game balancing and improvements. Open Beta will retain a level cap for both Elyos and Asmodians characters at 30 allowing players to focus on getting to the same level so they can explore the lands of Atreia together, as well as the Abyss.
Players who have pre-ordered Aion will be treated to a Pre-Select and a two-day Headstart period giving them the opportunity to explore, organize and progress through the game prior to the official launch. Pre-Select will take place on 18th September, while Aion's Headstart will begin 20th September. Players can still participate in the Aion's Pre-Select and Headstart programs by pre-ordering the game through several participating online and brick-and-mortar retailers.

i think since servers will be wiped after open beta im guna try another class. maybe an assasin or ranger.
have to say, that's another thing i like about Champions over Aion - you create your name and it stores it as char_name@chatname - so if someone already used your preferred name, you can still get it :)
The server choice isnt rock solid ...yet. I'm liasing with guilds via Aionaustralia.com - where theres approx. 20 Legions committed to chosing the same server.

Tell us what server asap so we don't pre select on the wrong server.
The emails that have come through suggest that you have to download the client again. Can anyone confirm this or will it just update through the ncsoft launcher?

the update is apparently about 2gb.
u can currently get it from file planet and theres also a torrent source but i cant remember the link... orthe post i saw it in (sorry, if i find it again i'll link it).
but for those on steam im not sure, but mine started to update to v1.5.1 via the NCsoft launcher got about 400mg then i had to re-boot and it hast started again.. so not sure wat the go is.

ill be having fun in game. it's only $50. most singleplayer games don't last anymore than 4 or 5 hours these days. so mmo's outlast all those games quite easily.

What browser are you using to download it? some browsers don't support downloading large files (IE for example). Firefox 3.5 does support large files however. (it's mentioned in the download box when you download anything from Internode)
At the end of open beta Aion fans will have additional 6 hours, so the open beta will end on Monday 9/14/2009 at 2 a.m. CST/8 a.m. BST. It will take a while to implement all the tasty updates because the patch is about 630MB big.
The frosting on this beta?s cake will manifest itself through a dazzling new patch starting distribution on Saturday 9/12/2009 at 5 p.m. CST/11 p.m. BST (more). We want to make up for the lost playtime not only by the long list of improvements that are shipped, but also by adding an additional 6 hours to the end of open beta. Open beta will end on Monday 9/14/2009 at 2 a.m. CST/8 a.m. BST

Aion's release is right around the corner, and our anticipation is running high! The beards and hairstyles of the character creator are groomed and lined up, jostling against each other in eagerness to be picked for your characters in this coming weekend's Preselection and Head Start Programs.
Preselection is a benefit available to anyone who preordered Aion. If you are not sure whether or not you are eligible, simply log in to your NCsoft Master Account to verify that your game account is listed and your account type is not designated as "Beta".
Starting 12:00 p.m. PDT (more) on September 18, 2009, eligible players will be able to start their game clients and log in to create a total of two characters ahead of everyone else. You can name and create these two characters through the standard character creator and be ready to play with these characters right when the game Head Start Program begins (but not beforehand). Preselection will end on 9:00 a.m. PDT on September 20, 2009 (more).
Don't miss this great opportunity to claim your character's name before anyone else does. It isn't too late to preorder, even if you have been holding out.
