Hopefully someone has some idea what's going on here. We have a client that we've developed an intranet for that includes a timesheet system. The system works very nicely allowing them to enter times for a number of projects over the current week in a single form (dynamically adding additional rows as needed).
out of the entire organisation using it, only ONE guy has an issue where sometimes he saves his times and loses the entire week's times.
The system has two methods for deleting times from a week - a delete button on each row, and it detects if any row is completely blank and deletes it that way too.
the only thing i can think of is that maybe there's some sort of keyboard shortcut he's nudging that empties the form as he hits enter.
no one else has been able to duplicate the issue in the 3 years this system's been running.
does anyone know of any way this could be happening? he's using firefox (checking his current ver now) on windows. could it be a plugin that no one else is running?
I dont know anything about how to fix it.... but personally I would go over if possible and watch him enter his time and check his procedure. If hes a new employee, he might just be crap with computers and doesnt want to admit it. Otherwise, maybe delete his records, re-enter them and see if that works as a simple solution.
sadly they wont foot the bill for me to fly to Italy ><
he's been with that company since before this system was deployed and has had this issue crop up every few months since the word go. I've just had a gut-full of restoring backups.
we've tried entering data as him many times. have even entered the exact data he entered. (and when he re-enters it the problem doesn't happen again).
May be a silly point but if you have replicated his entries and not been able to produce the error then the error shurely lies on his end. Is remote access a possibility and shadow his entries. Its the next best thing to being there.
Honestly, every problem I've had similar to this has ALWAYS been the customer doing something wrong.
Seriously, on every occasion they have either skipped a step, added their own steps or done something completely different but won't admit it/are ****ing retarded and think it's fine/think they know better.
Edit: The only other thing I can think of is have him swap accounts temporarily with someone who isn't having the problem and see if it follows him to their account. If it does, it HAS to be him.

seriously weird :)
if you cant fly there, set up a time to do a remote viewing, and have the on screen k-board on, so you can see if anything fishy is happening.
yeah i realise it's him doing it somehow. i just can't figure out how - there's no point watching him enter his times as this issue only occurs once every few months.
yeah i finally got to speak to him this afternoon - looks like he's used different computers etc in the last few years so if it IS still user error, it's something that both FF and IE allow...
