there was a story on slashdot the other day about a company in america that does whitewater stuff down one of the canyons using carrier pigeons to cart a memory stick with photos for clientele from one end of the run to the other. it even had jokes about falcon based packet loss issues :)

There was a radio telescope in Tasmania that had to transport 400gb of data every monday wednesday and frdiay to Perth. The net is so slow down there that way that they boxed it in external hard drives and AAE'd it.
