Legion Structure

I wanted to disscuss how we should set up the legion. I would like everyone sharing the cheap crafting mats, it all vendors for nothing, and some of us (like me) don't really care about crafting, so i want you guys to use it.

Because the legion settings seem under done, only Centurions can get access, so to give everyone access i need to promote everyone. So that is what i have done, and taken away inviting, banning and Legion Message privileges.

Seems kinda silly to have a legion warehouse and it isnt accessible to half the legion. why even have it?

Also, need to find out what we do with donations. I think trying to keep track of them all will be near impossible, unless i have people mail it to me. when people put kinah into the warehouse, there is no record to how much and who put it in there. So mailing it to me will give me a record. It's 1,222,000 for the next level, so its ****ing heaps. but divided by 30 people its 40k.

Any and all idea's are welcome, running a legion seem more difficult than any other game i've played.

legions are srs bzns

Post 3

Thanks for the input man. you rock.

Post 4

Is the legion bank directly related to the legion size? or can we increase that? If so how much, because I intend to just farm mats and not use them but if i put them in my bank then they goto waste.

Post 5

yeah same, so i dont mind giving them to the crafters.

Yeah increasing the size of the bank increases with the legion size. but we need 1.2 million kinah and 20k abyss points. the abyss points arent hard, but the 1.2 million kinah is.

Post 6

cash shouldnt be too hard, i had 30k spare kinah by level 13 in beta

Post 7

I had 500k by 20 in beta so money is definitely easy come by
Just need to use the broker :D

Post 8

bit different in retail, so many more people playing, so every drop you get 10 other people get, so everything is a 10th of the value.

Post 9

except for every drop you sell 10 other people are buying it.

Post 10

Actually I only made one lot of gold from items, the rest was from collected items and bought by lazy people who were crafting.
So very easily emulated.

everyone gets drops. not everyone buys items from the broker. but yeah, everything is cheaper now than it was in beta.

Post 12

Dude if ya want i can help keep track of it, tell people to send it to me via mail, i have a notepad next to my PC that i will record all info in, i can record who and how much before dropping it into the warehouse

Hell i could even do up a little spread sheet up to keep the info in.

EDIT: ok i have made up a little spreadsheet with names/lvls and amount of kinah deposited, if you send me the info you have saved already mark i'll add it in and keep it upto date.

or hit me up tonight in game and i'll get the info

lvl is relevant for obvious reasons.

i know we have roughly 310k in the legion bank atm.
i know who bout half of that came from not sure on the rest tho.

Post 13

I'll put in ~ 40k tonight or tomorrow.

Post 14

why does it matter who it came from? is there some sort of epeen associated with donating?

Post 15

no its a matter of working out who has actually put some effort into upgrading the legion...
instead of 3-5 of us constantly spending our own resources to upgrade the thing, it should be a group effort.

especially since some of us are constantly broke cos were trying to help as many as we can by placing items/weapons/sigmas and other useful items in the legion bank for all to use as they want instead of selling them off for a huge profit.

Post 16

again, why does that matter? ****ing communist!

Post 17

so it should be changed so that the ones that do donate actually get to use the guild bank, then we can have like 5 of us using that and the rest of the guild can suck my sack right?

basically dont help anyone and just look out for myself?
you must be awesome to play team games with ey.

are u playing it? have u seen how much of a pain getting cash is if your a crafter or if you give all the shit you could sell of to other people to help them?

Yeah almost broke again :(

Post 19

no, i just dont give a shit if i get recognition for donations.

if you want to keep a ****ing list, call it what it is: taxation.

Post 20

its a donation.
the list is to see who is contributing, its not mandatory.

if you don't wanna contribute don't... no one really cares... but then later down the track when u want something it will prolly come back to bite you in the arse when some one tells you to **** off.

Post 21

sorry, but that doesn't meet my definition of donations in the slightest. donations are given without expectation of reward or benefit.

its just as ****ing annoying as all the wow crafters who demanded a 5g 'tip'. if you require it, its a ****ing fee, not a tip.

if you say 'donate now' or get nothing down the road, its ****ing extortion, not donation.

Post 22

no one is being forced to donate as i said.
its to help increase our legion which in turn will allow benefits for all.

im sorry if there isnt a better word for "donations that actually are there to help everyone but aren't mandatory" for me to use so u can grasp the simple concept.

if you want to donate do, if not then don't.
there is no issue with us keeping a list of people that are willing to contribute.

Quote from dictionary//extort:

to wrest or wring (money, information, etc.) from a person by violence, intimidation, or abuse of authority; obtain by force, torture, threat, or the like.

i dont have a problem with the idea of giving money to the guild, or legion, or whatever the hell it is. i just dont think the word donation is appropriate when it's backed by a threat.

Post 24

I agree with Paladin. I have been putting in a fair bit of crafting material without telling anyone. Didn't know that I would be told to **** off if I asked for something later just because I wanted to be anonymous with my donations.

Post 25

Im sure we're a mature enough bunch to be fair..

Post 26

seeing as how there isnt a better word for it than "donation" unless u have any ideas?

it wasnt a threat, it was a very likely occurrence

@longtom: wat i was getting at was that ive been in wow guilds and other MMO guilds where people have joined.... offered no help to anyone in the guild... been a total wanker to everyone... and then expected ppl to help them and give stuff over ppl that have been sharing and helping everyone else...

the way i see it, is if you help people out early your more likely to reap teh benefits later.. im well aware people have been placing items in the guild bank for general use and many of us are extremely grateful for that especially us crafters.

and there are guys that have given me recipies for crafting that they could have sold for heaps..
i keep that in the back of mind mind so that if they ever ask for anything that i can help with i will no question..

i dont see why it cant be the same with donations to the guild?

Post 27

Erm, excuse my ignorance, but if you're in the guild shouldn't you help out if someone asks 'no question' anyway? Regardless of if they've helped you out in the past or 'donated'?

What you're suggesting sounds f*cking gay to me; records of donations for future 'reference' when assessing delivery of aid.

And the reasoning is so that the guild operates in-line with your own personal morale code, which seems to be that you're only happy helping people who have definitely been a benefit to you in the past.

Gay.

what you are detailing amounts to a membership fee, with membership benefits withheld to people who are non-financial.

if people continually dont help, and do nothing but siphon and contribute nothing at all back, thats what the gkick button is for.

there are other ways to contribute that aren't financial.

Post 29

The biggest issue we have is the size of the legion warehouse.
That wont get upgraded til the Legion hits level 3.

Don't worry about all this donation talk.
Basically if you want the legion warehouse to be able to store more shit for us to use, we need donations to hit level 3. Simple as that.

Post 30

**** off with recorded donations, I've been donating to the balls but I don't really give a flying arse if myself or anyone else gets recognition. Also I trust everyone else in legion enough to know they'll be pulling their own weight where they can.

If I wanted a serious business legion I'd have applied elsewhere with my resume, life long ambitions profile and qualifications in posting dps and healing meters by friday 8pm each week.

Post 31

Woah way to be a bunch of fu.ckwits.

for a start

–noun
1. an act or instance of presenting something as a gift, grant, or contribution.

See that last bit. Contribution. and no where does it say you have to be anonymous.

I like how you guys who haven't played mmo's before don't really get how helping works. everyone ultimately is out for themselves. only human nature. and you really do not want to be helping out noobs the whole time you are playing the game. maybe its selfish, but when you send months playing a game getting a higher level, and then get asked to do content you have already done...then come and speak to me.

What happens when you give a gift to someone? They are happy, it helps out, and they return the favour. What happens when you DON'T give a gift to someone? nothing happens.

I can tell you right now if Person A donates 1,000,000 kinah to the upgrade, and Person B donates 0 kinah to the upgrade, Person A is going to want to be treated with a little more respect. which is deserving.

but ultimately it being a donation it is up to you. if you want to play selfishly then you can, but you will most likely not make it easy for yourself. We wont go out of our way to make things harder, but we wont go out of our way for you. this is not a threat, its just what happens.

Back to a different point, the upgrade to level 3 doesnt seem worth it. donations are coming to slow, and there are other things in game that are starting to cost heaps for everyone, one being skills, 240k at level 31. So ive decided to not worry about the upgrade. you can take out your donations if you wish. but eventually i will be changing the ranks back and most won't have access.

Post 32

asking for donations, keeping a register and then threatening to not help if you dont donate, is not donating at all, it's extortion.

nobody was ever against the idea of helping out, just the nazi bullshit ratty was spouting.

Post 33

i know what you are saying, but its not extortion. we arent going to break their legs if they dont pay up. we will help people who donate. but wont bother with people who dont(ie. selfish ****s). Thankfully, most people donate willingly, and everything is all good.

comprende?

but yeah all arguements are void anyway we arent going to upgrade anytime soon :P

Post 34

fine. /troll

Post 35

The only problem I had with what was said in this threat was the assumption that people who don't tell anyone what they have donated are going to be smacked with the "selfish ****s" tag. No one ever said you have to be anonymous, it was the part about having to be NOT anonymous that caused the issue.
Sorry if my noob MMO ness has caused issue with anyone.

Post 36

Then use that money in the legion warehouse to upgrade the warehouse itself mert.

Post 37

i don't think you can yet. you HAVE to upgrade the actual legion itself. which is very expencive.

And i'm sorry longtom if it came across as an attack, you are a good guy, but there are many people in the world that arent, and its those assholes that usually get that tag. all of us are good people, and i dont see there being any issue. we just have to make sure we protect ourselves from people who will join just to steal shit and use other people in the legion. not many legions give the warehouse use to almost everyone in their legion. so its otherwise unused.

Post 38

Ooo completely forgot about donating. I will put in 50k next time I'm on and in panda.

Wouldn't it be a better idea to have people mail the money to legion leader? Also its only been out a couple weeks, is there any need to rush to level 3?

All the porting for quests is making it hard to make kinah from just grinding and doing quests. I don't think I have actually made any for the last few levels. Might have to start selling items in the trade thing instead of to shops :)

Post 39

yeah we'll wait a bit more mate. up around 30 the skills start getting very very expencive. no need to rush.

And yes i think when we start the next round of donations to upgrade in a few weeks, i'll just get people to mail me the donation. but that means i have to know how much is other peoples, and how much of it is mine. so kinda annoying.

Post 40

Just leave it in the mail until there's enough? Then it will have players names listed with it.

Post 41

i think it'll get deleted

Post 42

Just set up another character solely for sending money to.
