I thought you could only extend the warranty of a Computer to 3 years Max including the 12mnths it comes with. unless its a business bought machine.

+ is the warranty transferable into a new users name? whos the EXT Warranty with?

Post 4

These are selling for close to $2,000 ATM so you probably wont get much more then ",000 depending on the quality of the unit.

Hey this one came from hardley normals the warranty is in someone else's name I'm the laptops second owner and I'm thinking of selling for around the "300 mark for starters but if there is beer i'm sure I could make a small adjustment for a keen buyer.

Its the machine itself that has the warranty not the person. We've sent back second hand toshibas under warranty before without any hassle.

Post 7

yeah but with Extended warranty when its under someone elses name that person is the one that needs to make the Claim for repair.

if its Held with Lumley Extended warranty's then the warranty is transferable into a New users Name but many extended warranty holders do not allow new users to register a claim under its period of cover.

if its under its normal 12 month period that's no problem anyone can drop off the unit for repair no problems.

you should ask the company that holds the EXT Warranty just to make sure.
so who ever buys it doesn't go nuts after a few months realizing they have to put money into repairing the machine :P

cause if the warranty is NOT transferable then u wont get more then 800$ for the unit instead of around "000 maybe less. cause its not like you can just Upgrade the Mainboard or Graphics card to something new and better yourself.

Store extended warranties are just glorified insurance and most of them are none transferable. Manufacture extended warranties often are transferable.

Just to clear things up, Harvey Norman extended warranty's are held by IC Frith & Associates. The warranty is not transferrable.

The notebook can be taken to Harvey's for repair by anyone but the name on the original invoice would be used for warranty submission.

If the issue can be repaired at Harveys, then the name is not really an issue, but if it get's sent away, the owner would be recieving a call from the insurer.
