DGA will two dedicated servers running, Linux Red Hat 6.2 550mhz with 384 RAM, this will have two CS games running and a TFC server ( for old times), and the other server 450 MHz 384 RAM Win98 SE, will have a Quake 3 Team Arena running, and any others games you want on it,
The Servers and my machine, will all be running on the 24 port 10/100 hooking up to other 10 and 100 HUBS around the room.

Oh btw, me and OD have tested an extra 9 maps for CS - 3 of which fucking rock, the rest are average. We'll play them at DGA.

I dont want to disapoint ppl who wanna leech. The 10/100 is ONLY used to servers (as a good network should be) and a few people who will have RCON and admin to the servers. The idea behind this is to keep the 100Mb area as fast as possible. If you put every bastard who wants to leech on 100 then games will still be affected. Therefor leechers will be set on their own 10's or maybe 100Mb Hubs.
BTW the Win98 SE server has now been rebuilt with Win2K and shall be performing a number of tasks (including running some dedicated servers - probably Q3 and perhaps UT.

I didn't see anywhere talking 'bout a layer 3 switch in the proposed topology.
If you use 10/100 hubs and uplink 10mb hubs you will reduce the 10/100 hub to 10mb.
You could say put 2 nics in the servers or better still get a switch and eliminate those nasty brodcast collision domains.

TF was the best game i ever played! Wanna know why...cause it was a game played not by newbie fucks by mature gamers who had respect for others on their team and the other team... Spammin wasn't an issue because it was classified as a cheap was to get frags and most TF players didn't want to be labled cheap, they wanted to be labeled GOOD! Therefore there was none of this fucked up spamming you find in TFC where you see fucking HWGUYS Chucking 4 MIRV's into a room or a DEMOMAN doing the same thing...
Anothing thing is that TFC encourages SPAM because they actually have individual frags for each player where as on most TF servers the score would go up of every team member by 10 everytime the flag was captured because it was directed as TEAM EFFORT something you rarely see in TFC...
The only good thing i can see in TFC which is better than TF is the netcode
btw if you want to argue about this somemore i would be happy to shut your fucking trap by owning you in CS/TF depends on how much you play with those newbie fucks but i reckon i could take you on in TFC too...
One other thing did you notice how most TF clans didn't go to TFC they went to CS...because in TFC they didn't want to have to put up with the shit of cheaters and newbie fucks spamming and they shouldn't have to...
Respect your elders Korny for i have been playing CS from beta 1.0 and have been playing TF for 2 years before that...i don't mean in age but i do mean the amount of time they have committed to learning and uderstanding the game and respecting others...
TFC is just a copy of TF without the base which has led to its downfall....TFC will never be great and i can promise you that!

Neo yes but you see measures are being taken to prevent these cheaters, alot more effort has been put in to removing cheaters from CS than TFC...

I played QTF a few times...as a newbie I got ass-raped...but the point is, it was a far superior game to TFC, because of the people that played it and the style of play it encouraged, teamwork.
TFC is spammy shit...Korny you're just another tool that sees the eye candy compared to the classic...

Hmmm, cheating in TFC.... scripts which do flawless rocket jumps etc Who gives a flying fuck, Im almost positive TF contains a lot of script users, On regards as to cheating in TFC there are almost no cheats, an old pak file i used to have which was basically a rip off of the cs professionals cheat, i tried a while back, and it didn't worked where as it had used to before, they also have algorithms like CS which prevent cheating, and on the servers i play on they have rcon privalged people who kick people who manage to cheat, and for another thing tfc isnt spammy... if you want to see spam ask me and J@Y and we will show you what spam is on a map where we can be bothered playing.

Hmm so what you are saying is that everyone has to start off as a Great and almighty player, so newbie's aren't allowed, so i guess you are really saying that TFC accomadates for newbies, making them more experienced in the process. The individual frags thing in my view is better because it shows how good a player is, and team work on TFC is the same as TF, in wars to win you need to cap the flags, impossible you say with all the "spamming"? Come on TFC may have been a take off from TF but it surpasses it.
And ohh... The max number of MIRV's a HWGUY or Demoman can carry is 2....and they are fairly easy to dodge..
So somehow TFC will be better for DGA for the people who havent played a Team Fortress type game wouldn't it.?

Now back to the orginal Topic.
I should that we're not playing CS for 30 hours straight.
However leeching, SHOVE THE BASTARDS ON THEIR HUB.
I would definitely see Counter-Strike on the list. Team Fortress Classic is a must, because it is a bit faster and has more of fun element in it compared to CS. And FLF is also another must. A bit flavour here and there. Compare playing nothing but CS to eating nothing but the same canteen food you get or got at school allday everyday of your life.
Tribes would be idea also. But it may be a game that is too team intensive for some people's tastes.
A huge 4v4 for StarCraft/Broodwars would be a nice feature. And so would RA2 for those a bit more up to date. (But we know the old games rule)
AvP might be a good idea. As long as there's a server that's got settings on that will keep everyone happy. ( Predator Spam, Disc *CoF*)
Diablo 2? I'll bring my characters along if anyone realllllly wants to play, but I'm not in the mood for D2 anymore.
Imperium Galactica 2 might good to pass more of the anti-CS time. But it's a game that takes literally days of concentration and knowledge of every function.
Rogue Spear, hell I'm in for some tactical action. Minbari has got some mods that rock with Rogue Spear so I'm guessing we're going to be playing. (Please no Gatlin Gun Minorci...)
I'm sure there's a heap more games we could play. See ya'll there...

Minorci spam is where you through a minimum of 2 grens into the same room/same place right after one another... you cannot tell me that this doesn't happen alot...everytime i play TFC (just checking if anybody there has matured) i walk into the enemy base and there is a demoman chucking 2/3 MIRVs outside a respawn/in a respawn or in general somewhere just to get a frag... Yes i believe we all have to start somewhere but with the guidance of my TF friends i never ended up like you...actually enjoying spam cause you get more kills. I used to be shit at TF and i became better becase i actually learnt how to play the game and learn its physics ie. how to do a rocket jump manually
And minorci Valve only changed it to 2 grens recently because of the complaints...it was originally 4.
How does TFC surpass TF?? TF has been around longer and has had the pleasure of being played by people who repect not only the game but their opponents. Whats this about people having rcon access, wish they were around when i played cause alot of people woulda been kicked. Frags shouldn't be included...a player maybe good but when put in a clan match are they just as good.
A player should be judged on how well he works with his team, i should know i have experienced this many times...
As i said before... alot more effort has been put in to removing cheaters from CS than TFC...
Mirvs are not easy to doge when they are placed in the respawn agree? *RESPAWN* umm there are 6 little grenades at my feet ummm... *DEAD* another thing is Minorci there is the priming ability.
Everything in TFC is ripped from TF...they will have a hard time making a game as great as TF, TFC will never be great because as i said before it doesn't have the base which TF had. The bots for TFC play better than real players because they were coded from someone who actually understands how TF should be played.
TFC would not be a good choice for the LAN because there will be the likes of you spamming until your hearts content so you can say "I RULE AT TFC" when actually you are kidding yourself and the people who actually believe you.

i have played cs since beta1 also i used to play qtf and was in a clan.
we changed to tfc when it came out and for a while played both but eventually changed to tfc permanantly as did many of the clan we played with tf was great but was certainly hard on the eyes after playing tfc also tf was fairly cruel to those with shitty pings
spam was a problem with tfc especially with demomen having 4 mirv but they do only have 2 now so less ppl use them.
i am still in a tfc clan the same one in fact and it is very intense playing a clan war because teamwork is the difference and there are some very good players
open server tend to have all sorts of players but one of the reason that tf had more mature players was because computers were so dear that most people had to buy there own computers and were older therefore more mature wheras now nearly everyone has computers and internet access.
you have to start somewhere and cs can be a steep learning curve for newbies if they stuff up in tfc they are alive again and get a chance to learn some skills but like i said there are some very good tfc clans and if you really want to play tfc for real clans are the way to go.
and also the clans we were playing against mostly moved to tfc not straight to cs i am sure plenty did but the majority moved to tfc
btw i love cs more than any other game and [S]ydicate rule
if anyone wants to play a bit of tfc i will happily join in and i also am not turned on by flf but will give it a go variety is the spice of life and btw reality is for people with no imagination

i learned from my younger brother(ouch) what was expected and he was already very good we used to play quake with bots so had a bit of an idea when i went to tf when we finally got connected but even in tf a demo man was a good way to get spam kills and spy's were fucking annoying (bloody gas) but tf was fantastic and it was quite a while before i stopped playing it
and from memory there were heaps of respawn spammers in tf as well

Jay for the first couple of months i played i never used a gren...know why cause i didn't know they existed...once i realised i asked and they told me straight away...
I used t be alright but then i went up a gear with this new weapon i had the gren...although i used it sparingly because i new there was only a limited amount and i didn't know how to prime then...after a while i was on a map oppose1.bsp damn fine map and i was dueling this pyro...he saw i wan't priming my grens and asked why...i said i didn't know how...he then showed me and after 5 mins of training i learnt how to prime a grenade almost perfectly...my game boosted another gear...i still didn't spam grens because 1. There wasn't the need 2. They were limited 3. They were extremely valuable...
There is no need to spam for spam is your ultimate downfall...Spam may get you frags but spam will not save you...because with spam removes the ability to prime. TF should not be put down because it was the game which brought into a new era of gaming
TEAMPLAY.
Oh and btw i was 12/13 when i started playin TF yet i didn't feel the need to spam nor did i feel the need to cheat because i felt the need to better myself as a player and as a team member.
Oh and HS CS isn't just TeamPlay...its Tactical...know how to take down your enemy in the most efficient way without alerting the rest of the enemy team...This i believe is how it should be played but what the hell rushing is cool =)

TFC to my knowlege wasn't made by the same people who made TF for quake...to my knowlege Valve bought the rigts and made it themselves...i am not 100% sure of this Reichy you could be right but they have stuffed up TFC and it does not compare to TF in my eyes... I admit there were spammers in TF but not the amount that are in TFC...you cannot prevent it but you can reduce it...this is what TF did do...and what TFC hasn't attempted.

CS is the most played and most loved Multiplayer game atm, and probably ever.
QWTF is, and will always remain the king and original team play game of the net.
Front Line Force tends to get boring quickly, but in moderation its a top notch game.
