XP error during Install

Error:
Installation Failed: E:\I386\asms. Error Message : The parameter is incorrect.

Fatal Error:
One of the components that Windows needs to continue setup could not be installed.

The parameter is incorrect.
Well thats what it says when it tries to install.

I've been told that it has to do with the *ahem* copying of the "backup" cd that you have. Apparently some programmes don't do this "backup" correctly.

No accusations here.... merely suggesting possibilities.... just hoping to eliminate possible causes of a problem - which it seems I have.
