so we've got a holiday booked to Singapore - was a spur of the moment thing - we weren't expecting any issues getting passports as we have our birth certificates, driver's licenses, etc which have been used many times in the past to prove we are who we say we are.
So DFAT went through our paperwork/interview, it was all good as far as the office people could tell so they sent it south for processing. My wife just got a call saying NSW BDM wont accept her birth certificate so her application has been knocked back. WTF. She HAD a passport (which has expired) that was gained with that exact same piece of paper!
The fucking overflowing cockbanks at BDM are claiming it's missing some piece of text on the bottom of the doco - just to clarify, this is one THEY supplied, on their embossed/patterned paper. Which means they want $ for a new one.
so now we might miss our holiday - already had a rush job on the passports, and this delay may push us past our departure date. awesome.
I guess the lesson here is to not trust paperwork you've had no issues with in the past, nor cockwit breeding grounds like some govt departments.
Yeah, mine and my daughter's passports are sorted - just waiting on that one now - I've sent off a letter blasting BDM over this and i would *not* want to have been one of the 3 plebs at BDM that had to talk to my wife about why they wouldn't confirm... i'm betting she hit them with Teacher Voice.
OMFG - bad enough they've asked my wife to fax an image of her credit card to them, it isn't coming out clearly (duh, they're covered in coloured patterns) so they asked my wife to EMAIL it to them. Jesus H Christ their incompetence knows no bounds.
edit: and then they called to say she needs to write a note authorising them to take their fee out of it! I'm so glad we wasted our breath telling them how urgent this was.
Thats fucking crazy but not really unbeleivable .... Im use to it already, they will always fuck something up, the amount of times my name has been spelt wrong on something ( not a hard name) is silly, so I just let it go and forget about it unless its something really importaint like...a birth certificate.
I feel for you mate, hope you get to go on a holiday real soon with your family bud :)
cheers - on the plus side, DFAT let the fucked cert go through and i now have our passports in my hot little hands + sorted house sitters so we're now all good :)
we had awesome weather - was only the trip to Sentosa that was sweaty as hell.
also - got to love this - going through flightcentre we got a room upgrade from the basic room to a superior for free, when we get there though, the Furama Riverfront bumped us up again to a studio room or something to give us more space due to having a child along. their food was some of the best i've ever had in a hotel too.
sorry to hear that, but you know what, when you are going out of the country there are really a lot of papers they would ask you, because they want to make sure if you are still coming back to country or any other reason, if is it hard to go to singapore which is asian country, what more in the states? just be patience..
for you not to get in trouble fixing papers like that.. make sure that all the papers are ready 3months before you live.. because if you are in hurry.. the more they will pissed you off.. talking in my own experience..
