- No custom models/skins or illegal alias/scripts will be permitted. The best way to avoid disqualification is to run a DEFAULT install of Counter-Strike, with all buy scripts and any other illegal scripts removed.
May I ask why??? I am sure there would be a reason, but I have custom skins, sounds the works. and yeah, just wanna know why this got decided on?
Rec just being a big gheyzor whore [Blocked image]
For official CPL competition not much is allowed to be changed... I believe that they are supplied with a rig to allow minimal disadvantage hence why it is done on a lan and not on the net..
i reckon we should be allowed what ever.. but im not really worried..
Because LAN tournaments are meant to be played on completely even ground. Having custom skins/models/sounds etc can easily give players an unfair advantage or disadvantage over other players. Hence it won't be allowed during the competition.
good point. i agree with the banning of custom models and scripts etc. but while we doing that, might as well give everyone the same computer to use. i mean cos my p3 600 TNT2 is gonna be just a wee bit slower then a athlon XP 1600+ asus GF3?
hmm... maybe the rules are too strict... I personally have nothing against it cause all my keys and player skins are default (except for the leet skin which I replaced with Osama Bin Laden [Blocked image] ) but I think BoNgO has a point... maybe we should make a judge go round and inspect the setup of each computer instead of making everything go flat as flat.... but that's just an idea... you have to take it seriously thouhg [Blocked image] (j/k)
I wouldn't say it's about the performance advantage, more of the in-game variables giving an extra edge.
A player on a computer with top of the range hardware, won't be on even grounds to a player on an average machine with custom glowinthedarkOhIseeYou skins and scripted everything.
i say DO make it basics, no custom skins scripts etc. people will always have the better computer advantage, but take that away with the no scripts and the game is a wee bit fairer.
I dont use no glow in the dark models or scripts. I only use quality models witch I believe enhance my experience [Blocked image] and i use only default player skins.. I think player skins should be all default.
Beautiful Idea. ppl should at least have the choice to play on a 1337 rig. [Blocked image] So then nodody get the FPS advantage. That is more fair than taking away custom models.

I am not going to EVO so u can ignore this if u want, but this is my opinion.
I think that is getting a bit overboard rec, I don't see why you need to be so strict. Unless the tournament is for something like Ausgamers League, you should be able to use ur normal skins and scripts. As long as you have a 5 second buy time, buy scripts won't be a problem, lan's are instant so there is no advantage in buy scripts, name scripts don't make a difference to game play (that is providing i am thinking of the same thing). Burstfire scripts shouldn't be used. Skins don't make a difference, CS has box sizes so you don't have a advantage (again I could be wrong), custom sounds, now they could be used to have a big advantage, but ppl will be able to use them anyway. If everyone is using headphones, you can't hear there sounds, if they aren't, you will hear any strange sounds.
Anyway, as I said, I just don't see any point in being that strict.
One (or more) person going around checking out everyone's comp I think is a good idea, that way people can use their 1337 custom models is they want but noone can have an advantage with anything just the way people want it.
If you don't want to take the game seriously, nor the tournaments based around it - Then Darwin will never be considered seriously in the gaming community. That's what it comes down to, and if you'd like Darwin to continue to be chuckled and giggled at, it's perfectly fine by me.
In a way it shows the seriousness for us to create tournament like conditions that would appear to be acceptable in tournaments that are national. Basically that we're serious about our tournies.
Fade to Black will be on, of course. But that doesn't mean you can discuss the game at hand.
Feel free to talk to other dead team mates and spectators, just make sure it's not about the game at hand, like "Shit I got killed at the stairs, he's still there".
There will be an admin spectating every team while they play a match (standing behind you, watching the game).
You guys should organise something with Ausgamers.
If you are gonna make this official, then all customs except for key config probly should be removed. You could probly use buy scripts without any criticism. Just set the buytime to 30 secs. and you won't have gren spammers etc.
Im sure ausgamers/cpl have a huge list of requirements for u to go over.
