Well rec this is a boost for us poor Darwin Folk stuck on Telstra Wholesale ports with node. I was on a fast 50gb that set me back $99.95pm... I was going to go the 200gb Fast Reach for $89.95 unbundled and save "0pm for 4x as much but as was pointed out It was up and down and that I can go the SOHO 200gb for the same price I am on now. So in effect 4x as much Download, unlimited upload and a dedicated IP...win win for me.

I changed to their FAST2 plans recently so I got a "0 per month saving from my old FAST50G plan.
Now I was toying with the idea of keeping the same price point for 200G both ways, but the convenience of the static IP and 60G download only for another $20 per month less is inviting.
They have them, but you can't set them for telstra lines via the internets. I read that you can get it done via the phone though.
Turns out the billion 5200G is a ratshit device, so I switched it out for a telstra modem (broadcom chipset) I cracked a couple weeks ago. Been running this tflow application since about 4am and it's reasonably stable 750 - 1000kB/s.
Will leave it running and see if it's just a coincidence.

test file peaked at 2103kBytes/sec, come to think of it i dont think ive ever seen it finish in MUM when checking speed. hit 700k from gamearena and between 1.8 and 2mb from node :D

well now ive got to swap from 50gb @ $89 (current crappy plan) to 60GB @ $59, or i could just go to 200Gb but i think id struggle to hit more than 80Gb in a month.. but it was certainly worth the swap
currently downloading 'stuff' surfing and chatting wihtout having to pause the tv download.
and 25minutes for 2.5gb as opposed to leaving pc on overnight for 5hours is so cool ( well atm, im sure it will wear off)
im generally only on from after 7pm on a school day and i havent had any issues so far.
but given the demographic of the ghettoooooooo ( karama) i dont think congestion is going to be an issue here for quite some time.
If certain people had internets then they would have no monies for beer or weed, and the dealer at the end of the street would be crying poor bugger me.

Karama, malak and majority of northern suburbs connect to cas exchange. I too think congestion wont be a problem for a while. Although it might be time to secure my wireless and switch to wpa2 AES

I just remember the struggle that i had getting pov pack ghetto internet speeds to start with, all the bs about pair gain, too far from the exchange etc etc. We might connect to the cas exchange but im fairly certain that we first connect through a local exchange, ie for us it is to the Karama exchange which im sure is in Kwinana Ct. Im assuming this alleviates the distance issue for copper as from karama to cas would be over fibre.
And what do you mean it might be time to secure your wireless?? Thats just lazy or dumb if you havent already, or do you share with local 'pamly' you mob??

My wireless has been on WPA/TKIP since i got 1.5 in my area and that was when i was in high school. I might change my 64 hex password too at the same time.
Are you sure about the local exchange thing? Are you talking about those green boxes they use to have at the end of the street?
ADSL2+ Broadband for CASUARINA (NT) Exchange. Search and compare broadband Internet plans for ADSL, ADSL2, Naked DSL And click RIM information. This may be accurate but I dont know.
finally changed over today. Only syncing at 10meg on the far side of anula. Can test actual download as telstra did a half arsed job of changing my connection switch the port but failed to forward the new details to internode, so have line sync but can't authenticate until telstra wakes up tomorrow.
Upgraded my node connection to adsl reach as well.
Initially I my modem was connecting at about 6100-6500 which granted was alot better then my previous 1500 connection but I still thought I could get a better connection, which I did.
Old house I'm staying in with a couple of phone points that are no longer in use and ancient wiring, so I traced the phone line back to the conduit that feeds to the telstra pit. Cut the phone line, ran new cat5 from where I cut directly to the phone point where my modem was. Reconnected and went up to 8000, swapped my new netgear DGN1000 to old faithful billion 7300 and now connect solidly at 9000. Downloading off the node mirror web site previously highest I saw it reach was 500-550k/s after replacing phone line and swapping back to my billion modem downloads at a steady 900k/s.
Thanks to phenomenon for reconnecting the phone line, cat5 cable didn't cost me anything, and I could have saved myself $90 by not buying the new modem and I've gone from 6200kbps adsl sync to 9033kbps, booya!
Mine syncs at 21mb down 1.1 up, at a mates now in anula and he's fine, mate in moil is fked it seems it's the rim's that are congested. So that's why I'm asking if ppl in karama/woolner are fine still.
I havent seen any congestion that i am aware of here, however on saying that, when downloading it does fluctuate between 500kbs and 1.8mbs. Im still not sure if that is because i am acquiring things only hours after publication or congestion.
But connection still seems to be the same as when i first came on line. Ive got a mate in moil who cant do anything between 5 and 10 at night, said hed seen his ping hit the 3k mark and then fail, not internets, no online games nadda. every time i ping node its still around the 50 mark, when doing a 100 ping i have seen the odd one in the 80's but thats it.
Actually, funny you posted here Korny, ive got a work mate who lives in p/slum too, he couldnt do shit with is internet at night (was with aapt or iinet) swapped to the big T and surprise surprise - no more issues....
And my mate Epik in moil (node customer) has a little WOW player mate literally 3 houses up from him on Tel$tra who (while Epik cant surf the internet at all) is pinging servers at 40ms and gaming like the wind.........now there is no possible way that this is a coincidence ........not with the incoming NBN or stuff
Epik has been advised by node that his problems may be rectified - in up to 2 yrs if hes unlucky.

Had a job with node since last Saturday, they said they found a fault and fixed it then closed the job, since then the connection has been much slower.
I am getting 56kb's now :(, If I restart my router it takes hours before it can connect again. Once its connected it seems to stay connected though.
This sounds like a fucking joke. Have you tried emailing Simon Hackett and pleading your case? He's pretty cool with that sort of stuff. At least on Whirlpool he is.

Pings look bad. And it looks like your line is currently on a Stability Profile. Normally noise margin should be 6db (it starts to drop a lot of packets when it is 4db or lower)
12db is the margin of the stability profile. Meaning degrading line conditions will normally have to be pretty bad to cut the sync.
The downside of been on a stability profile is that you get slower sync speeds. But shouldnt be that low?
Nothing you can do, all Rims and exchanges are congested and telstra don't want to spend money on there infrustructure... People have been waiting 6 years for cables to be re-run into their houses, Telstra doesn't care about a slow connection, If it works and syncs above 1.5 (If your on 1.5 or above) then they don't want to know unless you have a physical line fault.
Its frustrating because the net here is slow on peak hours for obvious reasons, but nothing we can do, nor the ISP.
Ultimately, if your service is working (working means syncing at or above 1.5 even on 24mbit) and there is no line fault, then they wont do anything.

I am pretty sure Node has enabled all the Darwin exchanges but the fibre is not finished yet, as soon as it gets finished node will turn everything on
Whirlpool would be the place to confirm and someone from node will usually respond
