I'm sure you boys have most of this sorted already so use it as a checklist perhaps.
It would be good to have the rules set down before we all get there methinks.. [Blocked image]
Suggested Rules/Settings for DGA #13 CS Comp
FadetoBlack - ON
No talking after death - enforced by refs
CPL/PIL Netcode settings - recommended -updaterate and cmdrate both 101 -rate set to 9999 and ex_interp 0.05 All other settings must be default, gamma, bobup, bob cycle etc.
HL AntiCheat guard- PLEASE!! [Blocked image] It has been released and oodles of people on GA are being caught and being put on a massive banlist.
Schedule - Would be nice to know roughly what times you are playing so you can go for a break. Also would be good to have the round robin (if that's what it is for the first rounds) table already drawn up and posted. Also map selection chosen a few days beforehand would be nice so clans can get their strats together.
Sportsmanship - Evo had a few low points amoungst all the awesome high points -Childish taunts and accusations midgame -Racial Abuse : Guys verbally yelling out NIGGA mid game on the foxesden server. Not many clans got up and shook hands/congratulated the other clan after most matches.
Stats: I love stats.. [Blocked image]
If we can cover all the bases before it starts things should run smoothly and provide a great experience for the players and the admins.
I figure the more we players can help the VOLUNTEER admins the more LANS these VOLUNTEER admins will be happy to run.
Ain't rocket science.. [Blocked image]
Pls post what I have forgotten, i'm sure there's stacks.

one thing.. about the gamma.. thats not gonna happen.. people have differnt monitors and what not.. Third Party programs like Powerstrip are used by many gamers :\
Wow dude, easy up. I almost thought I was going to Korea or some place to participate in the World Cyber Gamers Competition after reading that.

First - there aren't specifically refs (Unless you Include Unseen Co), only admins. And I'd be most impressed if you manage to find anyone who would want to stand there and watch to make sure they didn't have a little chat while their dead. Admins aren't paid to govern LAN's. Their there to lend a helping hand... but still have some fun too (Gaming, drinking... what ever).

You don't seriously think someone within our gaming community would cheat... AT A LAN!, with, ohh I dunno... 60 odd people walking around....

Bottom line.... Its DGA, we're here for the fun of it, everyone wants to have a bit of fun. Some things you've suggest aren't really feasible.

accuracy (basically the only thing i can do ok) goes in the bin :\

Well neo we r apart of the WCG and a few of their rules apply. And with any luck a NT side will be competing in the finals at the WCG in Sydney at the end of the year, if all goes well. [img]tongue.gif[/img]
At the time of me (Or Coco) posting (appart from a post on the dga site that WCG was after an organisation to represent the state), it was never indicated that DGA was actually part of it. However, now that you've pointed it out... I stand corrected and appologise.
BAH! if i say "NIGGER" or any other comments like that i'd like u to come up to me if u want and tell me to stop..cause if u dont like it u can kiss my stinky ass...im there to play around i like the compertition but get a grip.. ive been going to the DGA for a while now..and i go there for a laugh when it comes time for "World Games" then my antics might change but till then eat me :D
All just suggestions man.. [Blocked image] Sure some aren't feasible and some nullify each other such as fadetoblack cancels the no talking one cause it really gives no advantage.
I was just writing all I could think of at the time. Bored at work...
About the netcode, I betcha only about 40% of LAN players know about it and although i'm happy tweaking mine and getting to react before they do because i'm updating more and my rate is higher it tends to piss people off when they get shot by guys that come around the corner after their dead.. [Blocked image]
Just throwing some ideas out there and if any seem good, great..if not ignore them.. [Blocked image]
Updaterate controls your choke and how many updates you send to the server per second. 101 is basically max
Cmdrate controls packet flow and sequencing of this data coming to your side, again 101 max
rate is (very basically) the maximum data rate allowed through your tcp/ip connection by the game 9999 is automatic i think but i normally throw it at 25000 on lan, the server sets the max rate anyway.
there are two more settings they enforce that have to do with lag compensation cl_lw and cl_lc should both be set to 1
cl_bob, cl_bobup and cl_bobcycle get rid of the bobbing motion of the sprites, yours and the enemies. Banned because they think it gives better chance of HS (i think that's crap)
ex_interp is server side player prediction, 1 is normal, 0.05 cuts it down to give you a more accurate depiction of where they are, tied in for online use to reduce lag and rubber bullet syndrome.
cl_nopred turns of your side of the prediction.
At lans the pings are so low prediction isnt really neded.
Same with the old latency command, not needed at lans.
That's about all of them Flamm...
That's what Chawpa calls cheaty netcoding.. [Blocked image]
And Cheaters if caught will by slain by the collective sword of justice with their PC divided up unto to bloodthirsty masses, and their bloodied corpse will be paraded through the streets as a warning to all that would dare to cheat at a LAN. :D
