Had a quick read and have nothing to add but this
Quote:
the short-lived Star Trek television series (1966-69)
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! :P
Was a good read, lead me onto the Timetravel article. Most insteresting....
Yes the Original Series may have been short lived, but then you look at TNG going for 7 years and 3 movies not to mention a fourth (Nemisis) coming out around December 13 (in America), then there is DS9 for 7 years and Voyager for 7 years and now Enterprise.
Very interesting read indeedie, not too much information I didn't know already but still good ^_^
How we teleported a laser:
We point this little tube thingy at that wall there (laser pointer)
now it is destroyed by the wall, and reconstructed inside this other little tube thingy over here see (another laser pointer).
:P
now we are gonna teleport a human bean, anyone got some twins handy??
Hehe, how about this then:
Quote:
The Caltech group was able to read the atomic structure of a photon,
I'd just like to point out that a photon, being a subatomic particle (a boson, a force-carrying field quanta not bearing an internal structure) does NOT have any kind of atomic structure, since it isn't an atom :)
Oh, and also this:
Quote:
Teleportation involves dematerializing an object at one point, and sending the details of that object's precise atomic configuration to another location, where it will be reconstructed. What this means is that time and space could be eliminated from travel -- we could be transported to any location instantly, without actually crossing a physical distance.
He then goes on to mention how the data composing a particle being "transported" is sent by using other photons. Well, photons travel at the speed of light. So if you transported a body using this method, it would NOT arrive at its destination instantly - it will get there in the same amount of time it'd take a photon to get there. So the statement "time and space could be eliminated from travel" is bollocks.
But I'm pretty picky. Still interesting, anyway.
Darkwolf.
well described that way, yes, limited to C. but there's also the talk of teleportation using quantum entanglement, which i'm not even going to pretend to fucking understand, but the gist of it seems to be affecting particle A, results in an instantaneous correlating change in its quantum entangled partner B. which kind of gets around that whole C thing.
look around that site
they got how beer works, and how lock picking works :D
and a f15 :) mmmm f15 jetz0r
yep paladin has the gist of it, especially the bit about me not understanding it, but a lot of people who think they know what they are talking about say that it is right, so i'll accept it for now, however I dont think they are gonna be teleporting fred smith any time soon.
and I wouldnt go saying that any of it is complete bs until you have a phd in advanced quantum bollocksology because this stuff is so far beyond yr12/basic uni physics its not funny :P
