Recently I have received two emails that attempt to use the "Automatic execution of MIME types" flaw in Outlook Express
Of course, I'm running KMail (which does not have this flaw), the virus is a Windows virus and I have HTML turned off for my inbox (and any other mail folder that doesn't need it). So all I see is a set of HTML tags including the exploit itself.
Just wondering if this is a new virus, or an old one. If it's a new one all you Windows/Outlook users may have to worry.
the only bad stuff im getting is hotmail telling me that i have an incorrect java something a rather.. which means i have to close the window and re-load it.. i heard some other people were having trouble... it only come about for me cause of the jdk's that i installed... *shrug*
My mum received an email the other day from postmaster@optushome.com and my anti-virus program threw it into the vault cos it was the klez worm.
i just got one in the email, which is odd because i dont get any emails width.pif tried to auto open, no idea how successful it was one of those pretend email address thingies again ah well
IS there a virus going around that kills security certificates and fixes cookie acceptance?
On friday I suddenly had a problem where I had to refresh to see any new posts on GU after friday. Then last night my computer crashed for its first time ever. Probably due to being on for 4 days straight and trying to run BF1942 on a 56k modem. So I restarted yada yada yada and my refresh problem was gone. Not only that but any one who has ever seen my evil computer knows my security certs are screwed and just keep popping up like when you go into hotmail and shit. Not to mention I couldnt accept any cookies for the last year. Now there certs arent popping up any more and Im accepting all the cookies.. Its so weird. Does this mean its good to crash your computer? Or have I been invaded by a sexy virus.
lol, hmm my xp dloaded a fix for that very virus.... I think it just lowered the security settings for ur browser to accept cookies, this is normally done manually. This virus seems to be aimed at larger companies that rely on security certificates
please, dont get the klez virus.. ive seen computers comp into work with them.. pretty muchfucked over.. like, disabling, or getting rid of anti-virus programs and such.. whomever made it is pretty damn good, just... its wasted effort really.. they should have made something decent =P
http://vil.mcafee.com/dispVirus.asp?virus_k=99455 theres how to get rid of it, if anyone needs it..
hehe, spero, it certainly sounds like you got a damned cool virus.. see, why cant there be more of those! =P
