"Gunman handcuffs tourists to tree in NT national park
Two German tourists have escaped from a gunman at the Litchfield National Park, about 100-kilometres south of Darwin in the Northern Territory.
Police say the two women spent the night handcuffed to a tree in an area near Tolmer Falls, after they were forced into bushes at gunpoint just before sunset.
It is not clear when the pair escaped but they made their way to the Batchelor Police station to raise the alarm this morning.
The park has been closed and police have set up roadblocks at every access point in and out of it.
The women are still being interviewed by Northern Territory Police."

About the handcuffs.... I believe he used cable ties to tie these two unfortunate ppl up, hence they managed to escape.
Media loves to use more 'dramatic' words. There ain't no way you could escape from 'real' handcuffs short of cutting the tree down to which one is bound(or knawing your own hand off).
Sponge on Duty 1700 hours on roadblock yesterday. Armed with Black Kevlar bullet proof vest, carrying 15 shot 40 Cal Glock Pistol with Benetti 5 Shot 12 gauge shot gun loaded to the hilt with SG's or solids for those not in the know.
Partner beside him armed identical except holding an AR 15 , sorta like an M16.
Looked at myself in mirror this morning whilst having a leak. Looking back at myself I almost shat myself. Looked damn nasty indeed.
Finished duty 1130 hours today. Recalled back on duty at 1700 hours. Another 12 hours shift. Vehicle belived now to be stolen and owners unable to be located.

I am proud so say Eater and I saw our boy on TV tonight, Sponge Bob, One of NT's finest police officers (same as Lataf) was on TV tonight, showing the beeer gut ..... and holding a shottie. Well done sponge good to know hes looking after us while this "nut" is out there. Take care buddy
